Professional Grade Foldable Rotary Cutting Mat Extra Large 24 x 36 inches (Self Healing & Non-Slip) - The Shop Company

Although I wasn't certain how a cutting mat could be folded and still perform I took a leap of faith. I'm glad I did! It folds in half, once laid flat my cutter can't tell where the joint is and I can't tell I have twice as much mat when it's stored. The best part is no nasty plastic odor! The Shop Company is the only one who listed a PVC free mat. We are very glad they did ; living with a person who suffers with MCS it can be challenging to find products that are compatable. This time I didn't have to compromise at all, in fact it's better than I had planned. I like the white background with the dark lines and numbers. I now have a full size mat even though I only have room to store a half and it's easier to see/read the guide marks. It arrived a full week ahead of the rest of my order and best of all.... it was the best size per dollar mat I could find and I DON'T have to return it because it stinks!

This is a great mat, and the fold pretty much disappears when it's opened up, which is great. The fold seam does not interfere with cutting at all. I love the non-skid backing. Two minor things that irk: first, it only has markings up to 34", not a full yard. I wouldn't have thought I'd miss those extra two inches that my old mat had, but I do. Second, the numbers at top and bottom appear in reverse order (so 1 at the bottom corresponds to 34 at the top), which means that when you're lining up your guide to cut, you have to double-check to make sure that you're following the same guideline since you can't just match numbers. Just takes a few extra seconds for each cut. Neither of these issues are bothersome enough to make me dislike the mat. All in all, it's a great product, and I'm very happy I purchased it. I would recommend.

As others have noted: the join is fantastic! It is barely visible and does not catch scissors or fabric.It is a great size and does not seem to slide around, though I have only used it once so far.The only down side is thst it does, when first opened, have an extremely strong chemical or plastic smell. The aroma did fade quickly but even after leaving it out in the open for a few days, there is still some of the smell. I only notice it when I put my head down close to it, it does not bother me when using the mat. But it is still there and might easily bother someone more sensitive to aromas than I am (I have 5 dogs, so it takes a lot for me to notice a smell!). And I have had it less than a week, it may well go away over time...

Not all mats are the same...I ordered this craft mat because it is white. And because it was bigger than the one I had. After doing more research I learned that some mats are made for craft knifes and some are made for rotary cutting tools. I didn't realize that before. I now have this beautiful large white mat that works like a dream. The fact that it folds is great but I probably will not use it that way as I like the size. It is thick and on the back it has material that keeps it from moving around. That makes a big difference to me. You can't have the mat moving if you are trying to cut a thin line on products. It looks like this mat will last a really long time which is what I like. I wish I had found this brand of craft mat years ago, I would have saved a lot of money.

Nice product, it was exactly the size I needed. Even though it folds, you can't see or feel the seam of the fold once it's open. Some people mentioned that it had a smell, it has a slight odor but it's not strong and if the room is airy, you can't even smell it. The only improvement I would like to see is for the grid lines to be more defined. Two little squares equal 1 inch but the squares sort of run ,because the lines are kind of light, compared to my other cutting mat, this new one is a bit harder to use as a measure, see pictures I posted. Aside from that, I really like this new mat, it looks great on my work table.

This is a nice, big, & tough cutting mat. I picked it for it's size, 36" x 24", and because of its color. I wanted something bright to reflect light and to make it easier to see small parts. Works very well on both these counts. I use an X-acto knife rather than a cutting wheel and have no problem with that. I bought this to replace a softer mat that I have nearly bisected in several places from pressing down hard on the knife. This mat is better suited to my usage.My only complaint, and this might be Amazon, is that the mat came in a hugely oversized box. Folded, as it was, it is only 18"x24"x3/8" , the box in which it arrived could have shipped it unfolded and fit about 10 more in with it.

I was on a 9 day craft tour cruise. We quilted the 4 days we were at sea and every evening. I brought your foldable rotary cutting mat because it was the size I needed and it folded up so it would fit in my suitcase. I was very happy with the performance of the mat. There were 30 women in the class and many of them used my mat to cut their material and they also loved your mat. As a matter of fact, several of them placed orders while they were there so it would arrive by the time they returned. I would highly recommend your mat and would not hesitate to buy other products from your company.

MAT IS GREAT FOR STAYING IN PLACE... the strips on the bottom are ingenious... WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN BEFORE THIS ????My other mat is the garden variety---and I was tired of the moving around.This mat --and the foldability-- to store it, is the best.Only -- SLIGHT--- drawback for me, is the odor it did have when it arrived... I counted on the 'no odor' bit...but- that said, I probably will be buying another one-- simply because this mat is the best for what I do, and for portability--storage and staying in place... hands down... a WINNER !!!!!Please promote this mat more.... you have a great product..!!!!!
