It stays closed once you snap it- the collar does not slip or slide off
Worked well and did not need to buy one at the vets office following surgery. I saved about $25 ordering this ahead and bringing it with me.

Overall good product; noticeable improvement over standard opaque white collar/cone
This is a nice alternative to the standard opaque white collars vets provide. A size large for our 40lb. poodle-retriever mix was good--might have been able to get away with a medium. Overall the cone seemed to provide a big improvement for our dog. I think the clear plastic improved his peripheral vision and the padded edges (the black strips you see in the picture) made it less jarring when running the cone into something. One unexpected thing to watch out for is it made him also unafraid to run the cone into people, including the backs of knees of those going up and down stairs.I took off one star because the plastic clips used to hold the collar in a cone shape are a bit flimsy and also quite hard to snap into place (especially the middle one).Overall happy and would buy again.

Great for my Granduppy
My Grandpuppy has allergies & when they flare up, he’s constantly scratching & has caused hot spots on a couple occasions. We are waiting for him to be scheduled for allergy testing. It seems in my area you have no choice but to go to a very expensive pet dermatologist. None of the local vets do testing around here. So saving up the possible $3000 is proving to take time. Until then it’s the cone of shame. He actually likes his cone. Hates it when you try to take it off.

Disaster
So I bought this for my 30 pound puppy, post getting fixed. The vet was skeptical, but I did not want to pat $40 for theirs. Within a few days, she had accidently popped it off, just by walking into walls. Then she figured it out and was purposely ramming into walls and it would immediately pop off. The clips are so tiny and flimsy, that they were not only useless, SHE ATE THEM. I found her chewing the cone in her cage this morning. At any rate, I have now used mini zip ties and duct tape, because I just need it for one more week. I would appreciate a refund. Geesh.

Works good but it's hard to put on and take off

go with the clear e-collar!
This e-collar worked great for our 40lb puppy, during her spay recovery. I was afraid the snaps would be too flimsy, but they held great. Took me a few tries to get the correct fit around her neck - she slipped out once and shook off once before I got it right. I think the clear plastic is so much better for the dogs than the opaque options at the vet. She wasn't too upset about wearing it and she left her stitches alone!

The small end creates too narrow of a pocket for your pet to be comfortable. It squeezes the whole face
Even on the smallest setting this is WAY too big for very small dogs and cats. They should put in the description what size animal it is meant for. It's more appropriate for a medium-to-smallish sized dog - but with the narrow space for the face, I think it would be uncomfortable for a medium-sized dog as well. The cone is very stiff and thick and doesn't shape well. The small end creates too narrow of a pocket for your pet to be comfortable. It squeezes the whole face. The assembly is difficult - you have to push hard plastic tabs into small holes in very stiff plastic. This is near-impossible to do while you're pet is (naturally) resisting. The size of the cone is also too long from neck to outer ring to allow for eating and drinking without major struggle. I am giving two stars because it is sturdy, well-made, and, to a small degree, adjustable. Perhaps it will work better on a bit larger animal, but I doubt it with the narrow space your beloved pet's face is supposed to sit in. I recommend going with a thinner, less complicated collar to protect your pet while they heal.

durable, lasts quite a few uses, easy to clean
Lasts quite a long time. I use this on occasion for my cats when they get little injuries that need 3 or more days of healing. They do fine with it. The clasps are strong and I like the soft faux leather edge for comfort - when the cats do the licking motion, it keeps the injured area safe. It's easy to clean and washes well with a cloth, paper towel & vinegar, or a wet wipe, whatever is preferred. If I need to use this on a cat who really hates collars, I tend to tie some extra string through the holes to keep the clasps on the collar extra secure.
