Continuing in their great tradition of classic TV westerns, NBC Universal and Timeless Media Group now bring you the complete, uncut Wagon Train - The Complete Third Season, one of the most enduring and sought after westerns of all time. Direct from the vaults at Universal, these 37 episodes have been re-mastered and presented on 10 dual layer DVDs in a special edition tin box, with a handsome DVD booklet complete with all the episode synopses, the guest stars and more. Inspired by the classic western film Wagonmaster, directed by John Ford (The Searchers, Stage Coach), Wagon Train debuted on Wednesday, September 18th, 1957 on the NBC Television Network. The ensemble acting, wonderful scripts and great western scenery soon made Wagon Train a fixture in American homes on Wednesday nights, as millions of Americans of all ages tuned in to NBC for great family entertainment. Ward Bond, who starred in Wagonmaster, recreated his role from the film as Major Seth Adams. He was joined by costars Robert Horton as head Scout Flint McCullough, Frank McGrath as the cook Charlie Wooster, and Terry Wilson as Assistant Wagonmaster Bill Hawks, who all brought their skills as horsemen as well as wonderful actors to the show, giving Wagon Train a special, western flavor. B&W. Over 31 Hours.

Wagon Train Season 3 - Excellent
Wagon Train is my all time favorite television series & this is a quality DVD set from one of the years that Flint McCullough (my favorite character) was in the series. I have to give this set a top rating. Some of the best episodes in this season 3 set are:* Benjamin Burns - Possibly the # 1 best episode of WT. Contains a very memorable scene that kept everyone in my family perched on the edge of the sofa, leaning forward, & eyes focused on the TV throughout the following commercial, when this first aired 50 years ago.* Jess Macabee - An amusing but tender story, featuring Andy Devine as the father of five daughters. In a memorable scene Flint tells each daughter why she is special.* Felizia Kingdom - Featuring Judith Anderson as the strong-willed owner of a large ranch.* Larry Hanify - Featuring Tommy Sands. About Flint having too much trust in the character of the son of an old friend.Folks who like eerie stories will like Joshua Gilliam, with Dan Duryea as the guest star.Ruth Marshall (about a woman who lives with wolves) and Alexander Portlass (Peter Lorre searches for Aztec gold) will appeal to people who are O.K. with episodes with improbable fantasy plots. The Stagecoach Story (the season premiere) has a western movie feel & uses different stock footage than usual.Cappy Darrin is a good story about a sea captain and a boy.The content is excellent: My favorite TV series and many good episodes. In my opinion only season 2 has a somewhat better collection of episodes. The set has fine picture and sound quality. The episodes are complete. I haven't had any problems with discs skipping or hanging. The packaging (cardboard book of discs in a decorative tin) wouldn't be my first choice, but it is O.K. Unlike season 1, discs come out of the cardboard book without any difficulty. One small complaint: The physical labels on the discs don't clearly say Disc 1, Disc 2, etc. A small disc ID number (69305, 69315, 69325, .... 69395) can be used to sort the discs in original broadcast order. This is a little bothersome if you have moved the discs to something like Tyvek sleeves because you don't like the cardboard book.Overall, I am very pleased to have this set and have pre-ordered the season 4 set coming out soon. I'm hoping that Timeless will soon release a season 5 set -- preferably with the several season 5 color episodes in COLOR.

Wagon Train 3
I highly recommend Wagon Train series. As to Wagon Train 3, all the episodes were well written with some political issues discreetly represented. The episode entitled the Trial # 1 & 2 were superbly performed and well scripted, representing the idealism of the American democracy. When Seth Adams insisted on performing trial for what he believes was a man who deserved to defend himself, he carefully chose the possible defense lawyers for the accused. The method of choosing lawyers, the members of the jury and upholding the defense's rights when the guy is about to face lynching by the Wagon Train mob, was a compelling representation of justice of yesteryears. The episodes could teach us what it means to have rights and what it means to be responsible citizens. I don't like those episodes where Flint falls in love with a woman here and there. It makes the series amaturish and fit for no brainer audience. Bu almost all of the episodes I watched from Wagon Train 1,2 &3 were all worthy to be watched and money well spent. I highly recommend the series to those interested in history with dashes and condiments of Hollywood embellishments as the shows were mostly as such but above all, it is a very classic entertainment. It's worth to keep and one can be proud of such a collection.

Wagon Train, TV series.
Wagons Ho! No wagon master of the modern age, playing a role, is better then Ward Bond. He is the major and the boss. No matter the scene, he is the boss. Then along comes Robert Horton (Flint McCullogh) to upset the apple cart. Horton is charming, more sophisicated and worldly and no bellowing. He is a keeper. And that's exactly what happened. They kept him. Single handed he brought the show into the top five category on weekly tv. And there it remained for the 5 years he was on the show. It dropped it's ratings when "Flint" left in 1962 and Bond passed away in 1960. In my opinion the show was never the same again. The Bond-Horton magic was lost forever. Other characters were added to fill out the loss but the successful formula had vanished.I have all 5 seasons. And if you love the earlier Wagon Train episodes you cannot go wrong buying this colletion of dvds from days of long ago when right and wrong mattered, when a man gave his word with a handshake. Many, many powerful tales are shown in this series. I would not have missed them at any cost. I have fond memories of when Wagon Train first hit the trail in 1957.

here we go again
season 3 in the same ridiculous packaging as the previous two seasons...once you slide them out, dont put them back again, and again, each and every disk has scuffs, nics and scratches.however this time luck was with me, only one disk, one espisode had a bad break in the picture, and one other episode had one skip.....huge improvement over the past two seasons although new disk should not be received by the customer with these scuffs and sratches, that is why i deducted one star.....but of course, the content is excellent, a lot of flint, stories equally as good as the other seasons, with the exception of the packaging, no reason not to buy and enjoy wagon train.....gosh, this is such wonderful tv entertainment, i refuse to watch wagon train unless i am using my camping mug for coffee while watching...crazy, huh

Wagons HO!! ....was heard every week on the Wagon Train!
I have purchased 4 seasons of Wagon Train and never realized it was on for all those seasons. I am in my early 60's and I remember watching Wagon Train, because my family use to sit around the TV watching a lot of the classic westerns together. These DVDs are still in good quality of some of the best episodes of that era when there were upcoming stars on every episode! Ward Bond (Major Adams) is brash as the wagonmaster, and his sidekicks Charlie and Bill along with the scout Flint to keep them on course come across the TV screen as their own family heading west and for a better life! A true collector's item!
