I didn't have to by special sticks, the hole is average size. I have been using these mop heads for years. I used to be able to buy them, stick and mop head together, at Smart and Final. Hope that helps. **Q: What cycle should I use in the washing machine and what water temperature?** A: I just use my regular cycle with warm water. I was it with other microfiber cloths I use every time I clean the house.
