I started a 29 gallon cycling (mid June 23), and most skimmers were way too big. I did not want to set up a sump (and/or have the tank drilled). Not now anyway... As others have said; yes, this skimmer puts out tons of microbubbles, but those will eventually settle down. You will also need to mess with it (a lot) in order to find the perfect water level and adjustment of air flow. Mine took a few weeks to start producing foam. The suction cups hold tight, so it is easy to remove the chamber for cleaning. The biggest pain was I had to cut a piece of glass out of the canopy top, to make the skimmer fit properly. It started skimming within a day and is so quiet my family didn’t know I had set it up. It does give off some microbubbles but that seems to have ebbed after a few days.
