Plenty of water pressure and excellent volume
Ordered this 1-hp Red Lion pump as a spare when it was on sale and so glad I did. We are on well water, so having spare parts on hand like pump, pipes, connectors, solvent, etc. is a most. After the old pump failed, I had everything I needed to replace it with this pump. Although I bought it when it went on sale, even at normal price it would've been much less expensive than buying a pump locally. The pump is quiet, runs smoothly and provides our house with 60 psi of water pressure, which is plenty of pressure and volume. Like most jet pumps, it requires priming when it's first turn on. When we first move to the house, I made a permanent connection between the irrigation pump piping and the house pump piping with a valve in between. So I used the irrigation pump to supply water under pressure to prime the Red Lion pump and it was up and running in no time. The pump looks and feel like it's well made and runs well. The pressure switch is set to 30-50 psi, so I adjusted it to 40-60 psi. The best way to do this is to turn the pressure adjusting nut clockwise and count each full turn. One full turn of the nut equals approximately 2.5 psi.Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one of these pumps in the future. It's a great quality pump and I recommend it.

So far - Great Pump
Great suction and output of this pump.Drawing from point 23 feet in the ground.Watering lawn and washing cars with this unit.It does put out 60 psi!Very happy so far.I would recommend a bigger output fan on motor case..Update 10-12-22 I love this pump! Served me well this summer. No issues whatsoever! I still recommend a larger fan for the motor. Heat kills motors. This puppy get quite hot. Fully winterized now for winter. Will fire up in the spring.05/15/23 fired up for spring (made sure no night freeze) working great. I have seen other post complaining about broken pump necks - my response - you let the damn pump freeze! Of course there will be expansion caused by freeze. Iron does not like freezing when h2O is involved. My recommendation is, pay attention to the weather - if it is below freezing at night, dont prime your pump for the season. You will see failure................Update 06/15/23 pump is rocking away. No issues. I did freak out about pump neck cracks being reported and took it upon myself to add 2 part epoxy to the neck of pump as a preventative measure. So far, so good. Very happy with this pumps performance. Manufacturer - please consider using a bigger fan on this pump. This baby gets quite hot and I do not need another place to cook eggs.4-18-24 Fired up unit after long winter sleep. Working great. (Make sure you winterize this pump properly) I have seen the stories of cracking pump heads. That is directly tied to improper winterizing.I have also added 2 part epoxy to the pump head for a just in case back up. Mo issues at all.8-11-25 Still going strong! Selling house and new owner will be brought up to speed on how to care for this pump. Can't stress enough the need to winterize. Absolutely love this pump!

Not worth the money
I purchased this pump to replace a Wayne pump that went out thinking this pump was of superior quality after reading some reviews. Man was I wrong, I installed the 1st unit as soon as I received it and within hours the pump started to lose its prime. At 1st I though something was wrong with the pipping in my well, but ultimately after speaking to their technical support it was determined that something was wrong with the pump itself. I serviced my well and replaced all of the pipes, installed a new foot valve and I purchased a Flotec well pump while a replacement was sent to me as I was not able to get my money back. I also did this just to make sure the problem was the pump and not my well or pipes. The Flotec pump worked without any issues for the 3 weeks that it took for me to get the replacement pump from Red Lion. I finally received my replacement unit from Red Lion on May 25, 2020. I installed the pump and after having a super hard time priming it I got it to work. Two days later I am back to square one, pump lost its prime and I am having a hard time getting the pump to work. . If you ask me this pump is an overpriced piece of garbage and I will never purchase a Red lion product ever again. Needless to say the Flotec pump is working flawlessly, but now I am stuck with a $300 POS red colored pump.

Good pump
Very sturdy pump at a reasonable price. Had trouble with some wiring issue(my problem, not theirs) and Customer Service walked me through the fix. Very pleased!

Not terribly impressed
Unit arrived well packed and complete. Pump was bolted to a 1/4" laminated board sized to fit the double-walled box. Installed easy enough. Has a low raspy sound similar to a slightly worn idler pulley in a car. Not sure if this is its normal sound or has faulty bearings. In comparison, my 20 year-old outgoing Flotec FP4332-08 1HP pump sounded more like a V6 engine at full throttle... and just as loud. Two install issues I had where:a) it took a lot of effort to loosen the prime plug... it shouldn't have been that tight since it will be immediately accessed before first use. So make sure you break it loose before installing it.b) the tiny pressure sampler hose between the pump and the pre-installed pressure switch has plastic nuts. I tried to change the switch with a low-cutoff equipped unit (to protect the pump from running dry) and stopped short of doing that when the plastic nut showed quick signs of deformation. I'll probably get a replacement hose with metal nuts then swap pressure switches. Either that or attach my pressure switch to the tank tee and run wiring there. The pump is not as efficient as the outgoing Flotec. They are both rated 1 HP output. However, the outgoing one was pulling 13 Amps while this unit pulls 17.5 Amps. Had to upgrade the circuit breaker from 20 to 25 Amps. Luckily, the existing wiring was 10-guage which is good to 30 Amps max. The install was 115V, drawing water from a concrete cistern right outside the pump's basement location. Cistern outlet is about 2 feet above pump level.I installed two new 32-gallon pressure tanks (to serve a 5-bathroom mountain home) and adjusted the pressure switch to 40/55 PSI. With this setup, pump runs two full minutes for a full pressure charge and get about 18 gallons of draw down. Used PEX piping with SharkBite couplers to link with existing copper pipes.

This pump rocks!
I bought this pump in 2019 to replace a Flotek that came with the home and was getting pretty worn. Very happy with the purchase so far. I will say that I received my pump with a broken part probably due to the box being dropped during shipping. The wood platform it was bolted to was cracked and the fitting for the pressure switch was broken. No other damage was apparent. I just installed this pump last week after flushing our well. I will say that for a 1hp this has a lot of kick, more than I expected. I did wire the pump for 220v as it came out of the box. The old pump was 110v. The old pump was steel line all the way to the pump and I decided to change that to a schedule 80 PVC check valve and pipe for ease of disconnection. I am not sure if that was a good idea on this pump yet but so far no issues. This well has been in service 5 years so far and the old pump had been in service on the old well much longer. This definitely gets the job done. The old Flotek struggled to make 40psi and ran almost 3 minutes to do so. This pump easily makes 50psi and only runs about 58 seconds. I'm using a 20 gallon bladder tank and my well is down 20 feet deep with 18 feet of standing water in the pipe. The pump is about 20 feet from the well. I think it does the job very nicely.

Quality Pump
Have had this installed in my shallow well (12 ft deep) for almost a month now. Runs quiet and smooth and pumps great volume of water. Toasted my old pump due to a failed foot valve caused it to lose prime. I HIGHLY recommend getting a new pressure switch with a low pressure cutoff, I replaced the attached 30/50 psi pressure switch with a 40/60 psi switch with a low pressure cutoff. It's cheap insurance to prevent your expensive pump from burning up due to loss of prime for any reason.

Steer Clear Junk Product and Custom Support/Warranty is a joke!
It is far from a good reliable pump, in fact it had issues from right out of the box. It would intermittently start or not, with any amount of use it overheats and then will not start until cooled down, great when you need water! This unit replaced a 5 year old meyers that never missed a beat until we were away and it froze. In fact on our second well (watering well only) we bought a aquear for half the price over a year ago and have no issues even though it has pumped probably 20-30 times the gallons of the Red Lion. Now trying to get it warrantied is like looking for an act of congress, their customer service is a joke and have more hoops to jump through and because it was sold by amazon is causing some of the issue. Their tech support wants me to rebuild the pump one part at a time instead of replacing the pump and then rebuilding the return. Do yourself a favor, buy any other pump than this or one manufactured by a supposedly proud American company, what a joke. Guess they have never been without water because of one of their junk units, good think I tied the cheap aquear system into the main system as a redundant, but how many people have 2 or 3 wells at their disposal?

Great value
Great pump at an even better value when bought on sale. Pumps a lot of water and builds pressure fast. Never tried the pressure switch so cannot comment as I replaced with a low-pressure shutoff version mounted on my pressure tank and in that situation it works fantastic.
User
Well made
I bought this pump because my old one was very loud an started corroding pretty good. This pump is very high quality and a pretty fair price from amazon. Comes with spare plugs. It is not as quiet as i hoped but still 30% quieter than my last one. I will just have to make my peace that jet pumps are loud. Overall i am very impressed with this pump it is very well made

Can’t hold pressure
The pump doesn’t have a BFP so as soon as it shuts off the entire system backflows through the pump.I had to install a backflow preventer on the inlet and that now stops if from draining out the system. It might be a great pump for moving water, but as part of a pressurized system I wouldn’t buy it again.

Powerful jet pump
So we bought this as a secondary pump in case something happens to my variables speed pump or pressure drops below 50 psi this red line jet pump kicks in. Did a lot of research and talk to my uncle in law that's a water and sewer specialist and red lions are known for being very reliable and not very expensive. That was the selling feature for me once I got the backup from him and he does this for a living works for a major company

Nice pump but defective pressure switch
When unpacking was very pleased with this pump. Kit contained a pressure gage and teflon tape and some fittings. Witch was a nice touch. However, after installing and properly priming it the pump wouldn’t shut off. Pressure climbed to 70 PSI. I had to replacethe pressure switch with the one off my old pump. It then worked perfectly. I notethat a precious reviewer had the same experience
