Perhaps the best 'Slayers' series yet!
If the four tapes in 'Slayers Try' are any indications, the Slayers animated series is heading for new heights! While 'Slayers Next' took a while to gather steam--spending the first several episodes on unconnected one-shot stories and one-line gags before getting into the meat of the ongoing storyline--'Slayers Try' hits the ground running, introducing new characters and plot threads while tying it all back to the events of both the original 'Slayers' series and the Monster Show-downs of 'Slayers Next.'The third 'Slayers' series opens with Lina Inverse and her companions taking an unexpected journey to the 'New World,' thus the first people from their part of the world to set foot across the ocean for over 1,000 years. Here, they become embroiled in the politics of the local kingdoms, get drawn into the machinations of dragons, find themselves in a desperate race against time with a Monster bent on destroying the world, and, of course, gorging themselves on all the unusual cuisines the New World has to offer. The characterizations are sharp, the humour is excellent, the voice acting top-notch (in the subtitled version... I do not own the dubbed one), the overarcing plot exciting and the individual episodes thrilling. There was even one episode I wished I had seen 2-3 years ago while writing a project called 'Doomgrinder.' It features a similar fantasy 'engine of destruction,' but the 'Slayers Try' crew pulled it off better than I did, I feel... so if I HAD seen these videos earlier than last month, 'Doomgrinder' would have turned out different.I eagerly await the release of 'Slayers Try Collector's Set 2,' not only because of the high quality of this batch, but because of the cliffhanger ending in this set! Did Lina Inverse save the world yet again... but this time at the expense of the lives of her friends?!

Darkness beyond twilight. . .
Before Slayers, the only anime I'd seen was Pokemon - so I didn't have a very high opinion of japanese animation. One of my friends, however, talked about Slayers constantly, so when she brought the video over, I agreed to watch it. At first I wasn't very impressed, the drawing seemed crude. Then Rezo's mind control spell took effect on me, and I found myself falling in love with the show. The characters are all hilarious and sympathetic - you've got to love Lina and Zel!

Slayers just keeps getting better and BETTER!
In `Slayers Try' Lina has to save the world (again), Gourry has to eat, Amelia fights for love and justice, Zelgadiss looking for a cure, and Xelloss being as irritating as ever. This time traveling to a new world and meeting Xelloss's next best friend (joking). The plot (with all new characters), music, and animation just keeps getting better. A must for all Slayers fans.

The funniest anime I have ever seen!
Most anime is about going around killing monsters and having magical powers and stuff. What seperates The Slayers from other anime? It's freakin' funny! I especially love hearing the slow minded Gourry talk about Lina's flat chest. This is a funny video that you shouldn't pass up.
