(2015/Sundazed) 11 tracks.Reeling from poor management decisions and inter-band strife, The Animals fell apart toward the end of 1966. Seeking a rebirth, lead vocalist Eric Burdon relocated from London to California. There, Burdon assembled a new Animals lineup, retaining only drummer Barry Jenkins from the previous incarnation. Now known as Eric Burdon and The Animals, the group immersed themselves in the psychedelic culture of San Francisco and their sound followed suit. Informed by his inaugural acid trip, Burdon led his bandmates through a fresh, decidedly lysergic interpretation of American blues. While the original group had largely performed songs written by others, The New Animals began composing as a group. The prophetically titled Winds of Change, released in September 1967, offered ten stellar examples of this new songwriting approach, along with a heavy cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black.” Lead single “San Franciscan Nights” encapsulated the Summer of Love in what became a top ten hit for the new band (and helped get them on the bill for the seminal Monterey Pop Festival).Medium 1Winds of ChangePoem By the SeaPaint it BlackThe Black PlagueYes I am ExperiencedSan Franciscan NightsMan-WomanHotel HellGood TimesAnythingIt’s All Meat

GLAD IT'S BACK IN PRINT
This is a psych classic up there with the best of 'em, Pepper, Piper, Satanic, Future Past, Surrealistic, whatever. I have most of the Sundazed mono series. I like mono a lot. Some in the series are so-sO sounding, like they threw the 1st vinyl copy they found on the platter and hit record. And some sound superb, like this one. It's great in stereo, too. This issue sold out really quick the last time it was issued and I expect it to again....

Winds of Change
Relive Eric Burdon and the Animals in their most intuitive creative stage. The poet's cynisism and tone poem textures of Eric Burdon excel as this band of Animals paints your ears with memories of sonic bliss. Eric's uses his mouth as an instrument creating the sounds of the sea and the band never fall flat in virtuosity. It's the mind coming aware with age weighing out indecision and offering several possible solutions. Subconscious meets the conscious as "Winds of Change" truly does alter the ways to define reality. My only regret, that this combo, which recorded "A Girl Named Sandoz" did not offer a stereo mix of this B-Side, but everything else is engineered wonderfully, recapturing the innovation of the artists and composers. This is no piffle, just laying down the world as Eric knew it.

The sound quality if great. My favorite track is The Black Plague
I have this album on vinyl and wanted to see any difference with the cd. The sound quality if great. My favorite track is The Black Plague. It's a creepy song but very visual. Anything is a great ballad and Hotel Hell is surreal and haunting. San Francisco Nights is a classic of course. This album is classic Eric Burdon in his prime.

Eric Burdon At His Best
I was a freshman in college when this album was released in 1967. My vinyl copy is still in excellent shape but I just had to have the CD. I guess Burdon's new release "Til Your River Runs Dry" reminded me about how much I enjoy his unique brand of vocals. Winds of Change includes the hit single "San Franciscan Nights" but the real gem on this album is a tune named "Anything". As a guitar player myself, I can say that the chord changes in this tune are fantastic. "Good Times" is another great tune on this album. The entire album is outstanding and as the liner notes say, this singinified the change from the "old" Aminals to the "new" Animals. Buy this album. It WILL be worth it.

Winds of Change
The CD lived up to all expectations, the music is crisp and the lost fidelity on my old LP has been restored. "Poem by the Sea" is priceless, Well worth the cost and to hear the music crisp and clean makes the timeless music truely amazing. This is "the Experience" that Burdon's music deserves. I say Yes, to this cool classic ,The CD really brought back the good memories. Carl H.

An Albun With Great Passion & Texture.
Winds of Change This has a good collection of happy & soulful songs. "San Franciscan Nights" is my favorite, "Hotel Hell" is a real soulful tune, and Eric Burdon does a great job on "Paint It Black" (which was done by the Rolling Stones). This kind of stuff would be a "breath of fresh air" if they played it on the radio.

Psychedelic excellence with an authentic r n b soul
Eric burdon must be the most underated artist of the sixties. Great sound effects together with a harsher lyrical world view than his contempories make a satifying listen whatever the mood. Songs vary frm out and outand out trippy ( "winds of change" + "poem by the sea") to adventurous covers ( "Paint it black" - a cover that actually builds on and I think improves on the original ) to gritty psch blues ( like "its all meat" and "man-woman"). The album even has space for the the classic "San Franscico Nights" , for me the most evocative of all hymns to the counterculture of the sixties.

Eric Burdon is great!
The Animals is together with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks the best British group of the 1960's and maybe of all time. Eric Burdon is one of the best blues and soul singers ever. I listened to him in Pori, Finland some weeks ago, and I think he is still very good. "Winds Of Change" with Eric Burdon & The Animals is a psychedelic album and very different from the blues and soul albums with The Animals. Still, this album is also very good and especially songs like the lovely hit single "San Franciscan Nights", the romantic "Anything" (a real gem), the appealing "Good Times", The Rolling Stones cover "Paint It Black", and the poetic "Winds Of Change" and "Poem By The Sea" are brilliant. I recommend this CD to those who were youngsters in the late 60's!
