Works surprisingly well. A few minor issues
I bought this on sale for $16. At that price, it's a great find. Not worth the original $40, to me but easily worth anything less than $25. On the first try, it made a nice cup of coffee, extraction was just right.Hint: Read the instructions, there are some things you will want to know (that the pouring cap cannot be used in a microwave, none of it can go into the dishwasher, what the lines in the hopper mean, how to use the diamond-shaped hole to pour). The grinder works surprisingly well, delivering a consistent, fine grind. I used it near the finest setting, appropriate for drip. Minor issue: the grinder will occasionally fling a partly ground bean out. Expect to spend a little time -- the grinder is not quick. It was maybe a minute to grind 10 g of coffee. The grinder hopper has some lines. They are unmarked. The instructions say the first line is 10 g of beans, which I found to be accurate. The others are 15, 20, 25 g.It's a ceramic burr grinder, which is a design that delivers a very consistent grind. Ceramic means it is super-hard and will last forever. Nice choice! Most people have a blade grinder at home, which will create large and tiny particles. The small particles will over-extract and the large ones will under-extract. For that reason, burr grinders rock. Nice choice again! You pour the water using the cap, which has a small, diamond-shaped home to get a steady, slow stream, for a nice pourover-style brewing. Works fine. But one odd design flaw: The instructions say you can't heat the water in the cap using a microwave. Which would be handy and obvious. Dumb material choice. The filter drains into the insulated cup. Be patient, it takes a couple of minutes but the mesh and the design seem perfect, as it made a very nice cup of coffee. I take milk in my coffee -- if you don't, the coffee this brews may be over-extracted and bitter. But with milk, it was pretty perfect. The insulated cup works pretty well. Coffee was hot enough and stayed so for a while. The lid has a silicone seal but don't depend on it. Usually, it seals perfectly, but one time it leaked, just a few drops. Minor issue.Cleans up easily enough. But none of it is dishwasher-safe. Another unfortunate design/material choice. As long as you have a way to heat water, this is a pretty good way to make a cup of coffee on the road. Not speedy but for a morning brew that is far superior to anything you will otherwise get in a hotel, it's worth it.

Great concept. Love that everything you need is built ...
Great concept. Love that everything you need is built in to one easily pack-able item. I see this as a great option for camping and having a single-cup of freshly ground and brewed coffee.Main gripes:1.) Grinding requires holding the cup very steadily and firmly on the table or a hard surface. If you loosen your grip at all, you risk swinging the top of the cup around with the circular grinding motion which will send beans or bean parts flying around.2.) Grinding handle ends in a small hard plastic nub that is difficult to get a good grip on. I usually need to take a few breaks in grinding since using my non-dominant hand is tricky with this design. I get that it's made for portability but if you have larger hands/fingers, it takes some delicate work.3.) Take extra care with whichever hand you're holding the cup with while you're grinding the beans, the grinding handle is almost flush with the top of the cup and I hold the cup as high as possible while grinding to get the right amount of leverage to prevent item #1 above, but this means I am more likely to pinch or scrape my support hand with the grinding handle a few times during the process.4.) The little diamond-shaped hole to facilitate pouring the water into the filter is a bit close to the top of the cup which gives you a very small angle to pour from. If you tip just a tiny bit more, it spills over the edge of the cup. Felt like performing surgery and made it hard to pour water along the inside edge of the filter to try to cover the grinds equally. (Update: Realized the red lid can also connect to the pour kettle to prevent it from spilling. This is not covered in the directions as the lid is intended to cover the drinking tumbler once everything is brewed)5.) Apparently you need to read through the directions as it tells you the cup is not microwave safe (gotta get your hot water elsewhere) and nothing is dishwasher safe.Hopefully these issues can be addressed in a future iteration of this product, but for the price this is a lot easier than taking a french press or a percolator when trying to pack light for camping!

Pretty cool unit-Read on!
bought this last week, used it about 4 times. I believe they have upgraded this from the previous reviews. The unit comes as one piece and you basically unscrew the various parts. You end up with the drinking cup the filter and the grinder. Once I realized the grinder screws into the cup that made it quite secure, have to say the grinding is very good at least in my mind. There are few lines and I feel with the coffee I have at the moment (medium) the first line is a good starting point. I think it's about 8-10 oz maybe 12 but it's a bit hard to judge. There is a rubber base glued to the cup, I think it's semi insulated. the black cap can be used as a ground coffee holder, the red top has a silicone gasket. Once you do that you have three pieces sort of on their own. There is a bit of grit in the cup but that's normal for a filter like this and although not gold, it seems quite fine. When I don't want to wake people up, I think the grinder is pretty sweet. I like that it is manual and the lever does fold into itself. I think for the approx 21.00 it's pretty cool.
