Initial unboxing and install was easy and smooth
Item received. Initial unboxing and install was easy and smooth. Noticed the lithium ion battery was 0% out of box. Not a good start for batteries if this compound. Li-ions do best when stored at 50%. This should not have been completely depleted. Unit also makes a faint clicking sound only heard in a completely quiet non-running vehicle with power going to battery pack. Hope it's not defective, considering I dropped the money for this after the backvue cam. If this thing fails or has poor performance, you're gonna hear about it.Update: This unit won't even charge above 25% and it dies on its own with camera disconnected. I love spending over $100 on junk items.Update 2: I have performed diagnosis of above issues. In my instance, I discovered my power magic pro was not giving this battery pack enough current to work properly, despite the seller stating it should and was designed to compliment each other. I had my PMP wired directly to battery (with a fuse of course). I have discovered that my battery pack sucked a lot of current when it is dead or below 50%. The one way I can get it to properly charge is with a direct 12v socket. The ones already in my truck worked, however they do not turn off with ignition. So, I removed my PMP, disconnected it's wires, and wired in a direct 12v socket to an ignition source I already wired in for automatic auxiliary lights that turns on when headlamps are on, which occurs either manually at the switch or anytime truck is put into gear (DRL in daytime on same circuit). This allowed battery backup to charge when vehicle is on and in gear and it also resolved the clicking heard in the backup. It now charges above 25%, in fact, it reaches 100%. The only time my PMP would maintain the backup properly is when it's precharged to 100%, it then had no issues maintaining it at 100%. Now, I won't say that PMP is not supposed to work with this battery backup, because I don't know that as fact, but I will state again that it did not work in my case. Either way, I have my hardware setup to work satisfactory. The 12v socket I used was one ordered on Amazon. I believe it's "epauto" sold as a 12 foot extension cord. I cut off the other male end, stripped the wire ends, and wired it in under the hood. The 12 ft length got me plenty of room to route anywhere.

Does not charge in winter cold temps
As others have stated, this works fine in mild temperatures but does not appear to hold a charge in colder temperatures. I sent the unit back to seller and they tested it (in California) and returned it stating that there are no issues with it. Well here in the Midwest it is in single digits and this unit does not hold a charge. Waste of money.

Great for vehicles that do not have a fuse box in the cabin of the vehicle.
I get about 4 days of video out of this device. It takes much longer than 1 hour to charge despite what the product description suggests. My vehicle does not have a fuse box in the cabin of the vehicle and this was a perfect solution.

Great!
Works great! Easy install and it saves the power draw on my car battery from the dash cams (4).

GREAT battery. Used it for 6 months - 1 year.
This battery is wonderful. I drive appx 1 hour to/ from work, and charge up the battery. It will run for more than 12 hours, when I am at work. It's in hot sun and cold weather. It keeps dash-cam's recording for all those hours, after I pull out the part that charges in a cigarette-lighter and keep the battery/ dash-cam connector together. I would never drain my vehicle battery with a dash-cam running, or anything else. Already, I purchased 3 of these batteries.

Be Careful. Stopped working.
Do not buy or expect it to last long. A few months after use, it completely stopped powering the camera. Tested the usb ports and they dont work either. Cables checked and fine. Contacted Blackvue, and they said send it back to Korea for a $150 flat rate repair. They also said I need to pay international shipping both ways, which is $85. So it would cost $235 to get it fixed. The cost new is $150. Be careful with their batteries. They sit for years before being sold. Blackvue customer service dropped the ball. Buy from a US seller with REPLACEMENT WARRANTY IN THE USA IF YOUR IN USA.

Good for parking mode, bad for always on car outlet
This product works great if you have a dashcam with parking mode however despite the claim that this battery will not drain your car battery, it will drain your battery if your car "features" always on cigarette outlets which I did not know mine did until I had a dead battery after 3 months of usage. I also noticed that this battery does not hold a charge as well as it does in warmer weather compared to winter. During the winter months, when I would unplug this device, I would get a powering down message from my dashcam compared to the summer time that the device is showing 2 dots of battery life, both instances are for the same commute time. I have noticed that the tip of the plug to connect to the outlet has started to wear out after constant unplugging and plugging in since I can't leave the device plugged in all the time unless I want another dead car battery.
