We put these kayak holders on our 2020 Honda Pilot. They took about an hour to attach to the cross trails. I had to use pliers to tighten the black plastic knobs, and I had to retighten them after our drive.The hold down straps worked well to hold our kids kayaks in place, but they did loosen up a little as we drove. Just a quick pull and they were tight. It would be better if the straps were longer; that would make it easier to loop the straps over the kayaks.It definitely helps to use a step ladder when we're loading the kayaks, and to put the straps on and tighten them. I may remove those plastic knobs on the bottom of the clamps and find better nuts to hold them tightly in place.

We bought these mounts and used them on a 7 hour round trip with our 2 kayaks. The mounts kept loosening up and bending over. I thought we might lose them on a bumpy stretch of road! They only have one anchor point, so they rock toward the high side of the J mount where most of the weight leans. We are working on adding more to the mounts that attach to the roof rack, but they are not safe as they are sold. I read the review from the guy who thought only people who don’t have power tools give bad ratings, but I completely disagree. If the seller wants to provide a safe mount, they should include 1 more bottom bracket per mount assembly.Update: the seller sent 4 more brackets, so I’m giving them 5 stars for their help. We will try the rack with these brackets and hope it will be safe.

The kayak roof rack mounts were easy to install and make transporting our kayaks so much better. The one thing I did do was purchase ratcheting straps to secure the kayaks more securely than the straps provided.

Bought these kayak racks for my two 10 foot kayaks. They are on the smaller side to fit my kayaks but we made it work. Definitely worth it for the money. Downside, the straps it comes with work, but you will definitely need to buy ratcheting straps since these ones only tighten as much as you can pull them down. They do make much more wind noise just being on my car then driving without but that is to be expected. They do not lock onto my cross bars either which isn't a deal breaker for me, but if you care about that now you know.

These are sturdy but the black plastic knobs seem to need attention to check that to stays tight to hold on the Jbar to the crossbars.A problem is that one of the shorter bolts was not included in the bag though its washer and nut were in the bag. Of course this was not obvious because all parts were in a bag together (vs other items that have the plastic individually sealed compartments) and we had already put together the first Jbar, which is time consuming and we needed to use these. We reached out to customer service (we think, as it was not easy to find the right contact info) to request the bolt be mailed to us but heard nothing back. May have to try to find this exact style in a local hardware store. The straps are long enough if you wrap them over the top side of the kayak and not allyl the way around them top and bottom. Attach them to the rounded top ends of the J bars and over the upper side of the kayak on the Jbars.Update: Amazon is shipping replacement so I can get the missing bolt, then return unused portions.
