This works well on a watermelon if you follow the instructions. I would've rated 5 stars if the cutting wire was closer to the tip and sharper. I ground down the tip and sharpened the cutting wire. That puts the cutting wire closer to the tip and cutting wire where it cuts better.The cutting wire is a bit back from the tip and won't cut all the way to the rind if you use it as delivered. Therefore,it wastes a bit of the fruit if you use it in the delivered state. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. It does work better on larger watermelons because of room to maneuver the device.

This is a cool tool to cut through watermelons. I had a small watermelon, so I decided to give this a try. This product works pretty well. It was super easy and I sliced an entire watermelon in less than 10 minutes. My first rind took a few extra passes because there is a bit of an art to this, and it takes some practice, but the second half went very smoothly. There was virtually no mess on the counter when I was done--just dump out the juice and toss the rinds. While I tend to not like tools that serve only one purpose or so, I was intrigued because I hat cutting watermelon.This method of cutting a watermelon really is wonderful as there is almost no clean up needed. With a little practice you would be able to cut bite-sized pieces as well as slices with this tool. The one thing I should mention is it does take a little practice to get used to using this. I thinks it's worth it though, it also works well with cantaloupe and honeydew melons.I bought this item for the slicer, but the melon baller is nice. Well, I should say it was nice. Unfortunately, the "spoon" piece broke off after only 3 uses. Since I bought this for the slicer and the baller was just a bonus, I am giving the item three stars.Here is what I had written about the melon baller before it broke: It is great for making watermelon balls to freeze and use later or freeze and use in drinks. Some say to pour vodka on the balls before freezing, I prefer to just freeze them and then later make them into slushees for the kids. The product is well made and easy to handle. the other end of the melon baller is perfect for making decorative edges in the watermelon or other fruit. All in all a very versatile product that is well thought-out. Works great on watermelon, not as great on cantaloupe but still good. Much easier than cutting with a knife.

I love kitchen gadgets and I often say, if I were rich, I would have every gadget out there. This slicer is a must have if you like to eat watermelon like I do. I also enjoy the little carving tool at the end of the baller scoop. Recently, I had some friends over for a dinner and used it to impress myself with the presentation. :)What impressed me the most, however, was the follow up from one of the owners of Firstchefpro after I placed the order. As someone who works in Customer Service, the time someone takes to reach out regarding my experience, is very appreciated.

Doesnt work like its advertised. Would not slice a watermelon without tearing into pieces

This tool really does the job! Just cut the watermelon in half and easily scoop out nice, half-moon shaped slices. I was able to get all the way to the rind. I haven't used the scooping tool yet, but it is small enough to make a lot of small balls for decorative eating. My mother was here when I tried it and she was really impressed.

I am disappointed with this item. The quality of the blades is not good enough to give a clean cut. I cannot recommend this item. I can do a much better job using a good knife.
