The DM1 is a truly minimalist design. Made from a single piece of aluminum, cut into the ideal shape to positively retain as few as 1 and up to 4 (4-Card model), 8 (8-Card model) or 12 (12-Card model) identification or credit cards. The design eliminates any unnecessary parts, but securely and beautifully carries and protects your cards. It does NOT block RFID - so you can use building access cards and contact-less RFID credit cards without removing them from the DM1. The open front and back are ideal for photo ID cards like a drivers license. At only 3.53" x 2.38" x 0.23", the 4-Card model is thinner than an iPhone 6 and just barely larger than a credit card. Our products are CNC Machined in the USA from a single billet of 6061-T6 Aircraft-Grade Aluminum. There are no screws, hinges, snaps, magnets, straps or rubber bands to break. When you insert cards, a positive click reassuringly confirms that your cards are fully and securely inserted. At only 12 grams, the 4-Card model might be the lighest wallet you can buy!

Beautiful, elegant, well-built and perfect!
Going to review this early before major use, purely because I am so enamored with the device.Spent the last year refreshing my tech and accessories with the goal of reducing weight and footprint. The DM1 weighs about the same as my previous wallet (Chums Surfshort Wallet) and has a smaller footprint. Carbon Fiber model is availible if weight is still a problem, but it is only around 22 grams or so.A bit awkward at first, but experimenting with the device intuitively allows you to use the device quite easily. In the end it is easier than unzipping my wallet, and prying cards out of a tight, enclosed cloth wallet.Cards are held in by tension from the design, and if the cards are inserted properly, I was only able to shake them loose by unrealistically, violently whipping them around on a keychain I attached. Of course, for this to work best, you will want to get the proper sized DM1 to match the amount of cards you intend to use.You ARE able to attach a keyring, although its not exactly what I'd consider perfect. The area you can clip on a keyring has an area as wide as the unit itself (I'm talking about the rounded notches in the corners), and it can come into contact with the cards. This is only a problem if you remove every single card from the unit, and only results in needing to wiggle it out of place to get the cards back in fine. Pressing the keyring towards the cards does not result in any movement in the cards. I would have liked to have seen a completely encased ring with a narrower footprint to allow for more perfect keyring attachment, but I'm honestly not complaining, as it works as I wanted it to without being advertised as being able to do so.I did not like how the product is listed as "8 Cards" yet in reality could not fit 8 cards without feeling like I would damage the unit. I fit seven comfortably. Some of these cards are flat-faced, so that should have helped in that department. I would suggest the marketing team consider labeling the device as being "7-8 cards" to avoid anger. I can live without the 8th card though definitely. My only other gripe is the quality of the finish. It is not as shiny as I expected, and the finish has sort of a rough look to it - not a defect, just the way its manufactured. Hard to explain - just sort of roughshot and dirty looking when examining it super close. Willing to tolerate this, as I appreciate color availibilities and if I really cared about the finish to such an obsessive degree, I'd have bought the titanium version. I like the look of the wallet paired with my Discover card so much that I won't take a star off for it.My favorite part was the overall look of the thing in the end. I simply had to include a photo of how awesome the unit looks with my Discover IT card, which nearly matches the color and just looks fantastic. I have it paired with a tritium vial keyring attached to my keys, and its just the simplest but coolest looking thing. Futuristic. On the reverse I have my ID card facing out - and it is the first wallet I've ever seen that I'd feel comfortable handing to a clerk or bartender without having to be asked to remove it from the wallet. It obviously has the best visibility of ID possible on a wallet, and there is no plastic or any other material in between the ID and the holder of the unit.

I've bought two so far, may get a third
This is my second DM1, having upgraded from the 8 slot to the 12 slot. A couple points for prospective buyers:1. If you only put in/take out one card from one slide, you will run the risk of splitting the card along an edge. To put cards in safely, you should slightly remove another card to help spread the arms2. Don't put a card with a chip on the outside; I've had to replace one card already due to a defective chipDon't buy the titanium clip, and certainly don't try to open a bottle with it. The sucker will bend like it was made of aluminum. I'd go with the steel one.

Your Butt Will Thank You
If you're looking at seriously condensing your wallet and don't generally carry cash, this is the way to go. I spent a lot of time looking at minimalist wallets and most of them had moving parts and/or elastic bands, except for this one. I wanted nothing to do with moving parts or elastic bands, because they always stretch out or wear out and if you are going to be using a wallet every day, that is the last thing you need. The DM1 is simplicity at its finest.I spent a week debating (and doing research) whether I wanted to buy one, or not, but every time I sat on my bulky old wallet the urge to buy the DM1 became even greater. The only thing that stopped me from buying sooner was the price, but after having it for a day, I would say it is money well spent. Now, I just have to get use to not having a ginormous wallet in my back pocket. I sure don't have to get use to it being in my front pocket, because I don't even notice it's there.Ladies, this is a great way to condense your purse, as well.If price is the issue, keep in mind you will never need to buy another wallet, as long as you use this one properly (unless you want one that carries more or less cards). Also, sitting on a bulky wallet, in your back pocket, is bad for your spine, so that alone makes it worth the purchase.Hint: If color isn't a big deal, you might notice some colors are cheaper than others.2 Month Update: I am still enamored by this aluminum contraption. It didn't take long for me to get use to having nothing in my back pocket; in fact, I think I reached for my back pocket maybe three times, before I quit.I have noticed some slight scuffs and scratches, but wear is to be expected. And as for people stating, "it scratches your cards," so does using them.4 Months: I love this thing, just as much as the day I received it. Never have I so much as considered going back to a bulky regular wallet. The scuffs and scratches are still mostly on the edges, but even if all the color started wearing off, I wouldn't care. And it feels just like it did the day I received it, as far as the cards popping back in and staying in place.9 Months: The DM1 is still going strong and looking good. I love showing it off, when people ask what it is. I'm kind of wondering how long it will last, but at the rate we're going it's going to be a long time. I must say, I'm looking forward to getting another one, when the time comes; until then, I will keep recommending it to others.14 Months: Just buy the Decadent Minimalist aluminum (or titanium) wallet, already; you will not regret it.21 Months: I would advise not putting the DM1 in the washing machine. Today, I decided to leave it in my pants pocket, and by the time I realized what I had done, the damage had been done. When I reached my hand into the freezing cold water, hoping to find my DM1 in tact, first I felt a single credit card. When I finally found the DM1, none of the cards were in it and it was bent and cracked. Please send thoughts and prayers, as I mourn the loss of my blue aluminum 8 card DM1. I hope everyone can make it to the remembrance ceremony followed by the burial, which will be held next weekend.I do have some good news, though. We are expecting a new nickle 12 card DM1, some time in the near future. Stay tuned for a gender reveal party.
