The metal beads are lead free non –toxic metal. Knotted Mala's are more easily worn on the wrist as they have stretch when pulling over your hand. Mala's have been used for centuries to count one's breath and/or prayers during meditation. When one absentmindedly touches the mala throughout the day, it is a reminder to come back to the breath, to be aware, to be here now. the beads are beautiful; however
Overall, the beads are beautiful; however, the strand that I got has 99 bead, not 108. So, it's not useful to me. I'll be returning and purchasing another (hoping for 108 beads this time!)
