The description states, "Their plastic coating over steel makes them highly weather resistant." However, the only part that is steel coated in plastic is the eye hook piece. The base of the unit appears to be all plastic. This was verified using a strong magnet. Returning this item for an all steel one.

Bulk of this product is plastic. The pin appears to be stainless. The moving eye has some steel in it but it is not the "plastic coated steel" you are probably envisioning. The steel inside can't be more than maybe 5/32 dia. There does not appear to be any steak at all in the mounting bracket, either in the flange or the lugs. I would not use this to support human weight, much less something as energetic as a swing.

Bought two pair to handle an 800 pound rated porch swing big enough for four people. Great product! The Hangers do not come with bolts or lag screw for mounting applications. If you need this product be sure to reinforce the roof cross-members before hanging anything rated for 600 pounds or more. Saves embarrassment and possible injury!

The main body is plastic, the pivot hook is plastic coated steel, the pin is metal, therefore the plastic rubs vibrating and making an annoying noise. Lubrications do not help.

The rings are too thick for most hardware used to attach commonly ordered swings of various types.

I decided to not use lag bolts for installation, I used 1/2 galvanized bolts, washers and nuts. I painted all attaching hardware to keep down the rust. They work great, and don't squeak, that's a plus. Matches my paint scheme, and hopefully will last longer than my last hangers.

These started squeaking right away and because they don't come apart (with a bolt) it is difficult to grease them. I managed to sneak some bike chain lube onto the pin by pouring it into the crack, but spray lubes (even with a straw) can't get in there well enough (only lasted a day or two). These work fine, but next time I would get swing hangers that can be taken apart and lubed.

They took the pains of painting the example in the product pictures black, as though it was a cast bracket..wrong. Plastic, granted it would last a few years but would not have the shear strength of a metal part. My bad for not examining the pictures closer.
