ER240B Beard & Mustache Trimmer for Men

Bought this for travel, to replace my 2-AA old (at least 20 yrs old) remington 2-AA trimmer that I dropped and it broke beyond repair. This is just as good, if not better... although we'll see if it survives 20 years. Made in Osaka, Japan which I didn't expect for the ~$20 price point (my old remington was made in china). It is small which is a huge plus for travelling. Length adjustments are done via squeezing tabs on the blade guard which is cost-effective but not super easy -- it's not difficult, but you do have to pay attention you're set where you want to be. Power on/off is slightly difficult to engage which I consider a positive for something that will be bouncing around in a suitcase or backpack. I used this to successfully trim facial hair the way I wanted, it runs on 2 AA batteries, and it was surprisingly inexpensive -- all good!

I’m very impressed with this product! It cuts well, is not too loud, and is plastic but a strong, solid plastic. It has a terrific one-piece guide that adjusts to about 5 positions that allows you to easily choose your length, and not have to keep track of several individual guides. I bought this battery razor instead of the rechargeable razor because I have several rechargeable lithium AA batteries that I will alternate, and I won’t ever have to worry about the internal rechargeable battery dying and rendering the trimmer useless. My batteries have provided good power over several days. Overall, Panasonic has designed an excellent tool!

This is one of those things you don't realize how important it is to you until it's gone. My Panasonic trimmer basically died about a week and a half ago because the little, metal contact broke, where it touches battery. How many times have I dropped this sucka over the last 23- 25 years? oh, probably 80 times. How many times has it been submerged in a sink of water? Probably about 15 times. How many times has my son dropped it in the toilet? Probably 5 times, that I know of. (Don't want to even think of the times it was sharing the toilet w a friend. Ewww!) This bad boy has cleaned up my face so many times, I couldn't count that high if you gave me a day. So if you want something that will clean up your ugly mug, fast, without any Cuts, or nips, or pimples, get this bad boy and maybe you, can look as good as me. For 25 years, I used a trimmer (Panasonic Rechargeable ER389) that looks almost identical to this one (Panasonic ER 240B). Both had been marketed side-by-side until suddenly Panasonic withdrew from the market the rechargeable version (ER 389). No explanation. I loved the rechargeable version for many reasons including the fact that it no charging base or cords to lose but a simple slide-out US standard 2-flat-prong plug so you could just plug it straight into any wall outlet. The ONLY downside to this model was that it 110v only and twice on trips outside the U.S., I forgot and fried the internal transform by plugging it into a 240v supply and so I had to replace it. After the withdrawal from the market of the ER 389, I bought (and discarded a slew of beard trimmers most costing considerably more than the R 389). None of them worked well for me. They generally come with a slew of different "combs" for different beard lengths and these tend to get lost, break easily, and often they'd fall off the trimmer while in use (brands were Wahl, Solo, Norelco, & Braun)! Eventually a couple of weeks ago, I decided to research the market again, hoping that Panasonic had seen the error of its ways and returned the ER 289 to the marketplace. Sadly, it hasn't. Although I was looking for a rechargeable, I figured I didn't have much to lose by trying this ER 240B. What I can say is that this will remain my 2nd choice after the ER 389 but 1st choice after the other brands and models I've tried. Pros: The AA batteries are easy to find worldwide so travel is actually easier as you don't need to carry a voltage converter (the ER 239 was the only reason I used to so since most small appliances now allow for use on a range of 110v-240v). Compared to the other brands and models I've tried, this is alot more convenient, having a sliding comb that never needs to be removed except for cleaning. It's the most ergonomically-designed with an intuitively-positioned on-off switch. Cons: It's not rechargeable. This ER 240B is not as solidly built as the ER 389 was. Time will tell if the blades last as long as the very long-lasting cutting blades on the ER 389. It's alot more expensive than what I paid for the ER 389.

I love the style, but it takes multiple passes to cut hair. It's easy to clean and a decent price. It's also small enough to be portable and it doesn't pull hair when cutting. It would be full stars if it actually cut the first swipe through.

This Panasonic ER240 beard trimmer was 3x more expensive than other brands that offer similar models powered by 2 AA batteries. However, the head is quite heavy and the plastic body is not flimsy at all. It's hard to describe but the motor hums like a quality trimmer should. I was surprised that 2 AA battery is more than sufficient to power the trimmer. I can't comment on the longevity or reliability of this trimmer as I've only had it for a day. It feels like a well built machine which I expect from a product designed and made in Japan. My beard isn't thick nor does it grow fast so I use a trimmer twice a week. There's 5 length settings on the comb that attaches to the trimmer. The comb slides up and down, but is quite secure. My old Braun trimmer comb had a tendency to slip when I pressed too hard. I owned the Braun for a couple of years, but the rechargeable battery couldn't hold a charge any longer. Before that I had a Philips trimmer. Same problem with the lithium rechargeable battery. There was no way to replace the battery so I decided to opt for this Panasonic trimmer where I can easily swap out batteries without having to throw the entire trimmer away. I'll update this review after I've had more time using it. Addendum: I've had this trimmer for almost 4 months now and it is still operating on the first set of batteries. I use the trimmer 2-3 times a week. I estimate I've gotten around 30-40 minutes on a single set of batteries so far and it still is going strong.

Mein Vater nutzte dieses Modell schon seit Jahrzehnten und für ihn wurde der neue geholt, da ich seinen alten übernommen habe. Der alte war nicht kaputt! Die Klingen sind nahezu ewig scharf genug sofern eine relativ volle Batterie einliegt und der Schaden an der Haut unter dem Barthaar ist minimal, da die Form vorsichtig über die Haut gleiten kann. Er ist einfach zu pflegen und die Köpfe, falls man doch mal einen neuen will, sind sehr einfach auszutauschen. Das ist halt einfach ein Qualitätsprodukt für alle die auf eine Glattrasur verzichten können für einen Drei-Tage Bart... oder Leute die eine sichere und sanfte Vorrasur schätzen.
