Works well and is accurate to1 deg.F. at temperatures between 0 and 200. is within 3 deg.F at temperatures above 200.I used a NIST traceable RTD and Temperature bath at work.if using to measure freezer temperatures, remove after a few minutes as the cold air will cause the battery to loose output and the display will blank out.Surprising accuracy for such a low priced product.

This thermostat worked great at first but soon crapped out. This is the second digital thermometer that I have tried this grilling season with both failing. I have since ordered the old school analog thermometer. I have had these last for years. Live and learn.

Had it several months and it didn't really work well. My "cheapy" WalMart one fell apart, but worked better, so I threw this one out and bought another one at WalMart.

Disagrees with two other digitals that agree with each other by 1.5 degrees high but thats close enough for steak.Also it is not instant read. more like 35 second read to actual temp. It walks up or down rather slowly and in small degrees.

The unit is very finicky. Sometimes it will work and then it won't. When it fails, it comes back showing centigrade degrees and sometimes can be successfully changed. I can usually get it working if I push the buttons often enough. Really don't have to worry about turning it off 'cause it does that by itself far too often.Review update. Was contacted by customer service who was willing to send me a video on how to correct a poorly contacting battery. Didn't wait for video, opened battery compartment, cleaned contacts, closed battery compartment, all works just fine now. Original review as two stars. Would have given five stars if it had worked correctly when it arrived.

The thermometer is really easy to read and is very accurate so far and it seems very sturdy and will last. The read out is very big and clear even when there is a lot of steam coming up from the food. The only real complaint I have is that the buttons are sensitive and my big fingers keep pushing the C/F button and it throws me off, but that is my mistake. "
