This book and companion CD are a great resource for those who want to work with the vast, complex and exciting body of North Indian music. This is a way of tapping into a huge musical resource that's unknown territory to most Western musicians.The companion CD is wonderful. Aswin Batish's late father, S.D. Batish, sings "Chalans" or improvisations on five ragas. His singing is wonderful - so good I listen to these five tracks over and over again while driving.
