Horrible out of the box BUT possibly (hopefully) just a defective unit.
I received this unit at a HUGE discount (1/2 price), because it says that it was a special for Amazon Business Accounts. I did a lot of research and don't think that I would have paid the $1,000+ full price for it, but I love me a deal and I thought I would give it a try. Before I go any further, I want to say that Amazon has and INCREDIBLE employee named Andrea that made this whole deal right, but more about that later. So I get this delivered very quickly and was very impressed with the size, the features, and the way that it looked (black model). I am an insurance agent and had my office broken into and believe it or not, someone stole my central heat & A/C unit. I am planning to upgrade the one that was stolen in the next month or two and bought this unit just to get me by until it is installed.Once I turn the unit on, it blew incredibly cold air.........for a few minutes. It would cycle from cold air to hot air to cold air to hot air, with the hot air being the overall winner. I also noticed that the temperature readout LCD screen wasn't working properly, it only had one of two digits lit up. After making sure I had it at the coolest setting (62 degrees) I let it run and run and run and nothing changed. My office was EASILY 20 degrees hotter than it was outside every day that I had this thing running! Thinking something has to be up with this thing, I ran it over the weekend on "dehumidify" to see if that worked any good. I'm in the south and it's already humid here so it would have plenty of moisture to pull from the air right? NO. After running for 48 hours the water tank was bone-dry. After suffering for about a week and after seeing that not only was the a/c not running properly and it wasn't worth a **** at dehumidifying, I called Amazon to get a replacement. When I called I was told that the unit wasn't available. I told the representative that it was and that the price had doubled back to the original price (what, now a business customer no longer gets a deal?). It was still sold and fulfilled by Amazon so why wouldn't they replace it?To make an already long story as short as I can, Andrea from Amazon did the right thing and credited me the difference and I'm going to give it one more try. Honestly, I believe that this was a used and defective, or possibly refurbished unit that was sold as new and as a "special" business account deal by mistake (or maybe not). Either way, I am going to try another one and I am willing to change my review if it works. I'm hopefully optimistic.Either way, even if the replacement unit blows (hot air instead of cold *pun*), it's nice to know that Amazon will do the right thing and has good people working there. Thank you Andrea!

Cools, heats and dehumidifies. A nice unit!
This is a great option for my house, where we don't have central air. Having a portable unit means we can install it in a guest room when needed or have it in the main living space. What I liked:-The unit includes a window adapter for installation (see note below about fit).-This has digital controls and it's easy to select a comfort level.-It cools well.-It is portable, in theory.-It is not too huge and doesn't take up heaps of space.-The controls are intuitive.-It also functions as a heater, which is helpful in the off-season, especially since we have electric heat with load management times on cold days.-It has a timer mode, which allows it to be programmed to come on within a certain number of hours and off within a set number of hours (not programmable by clock, but by number of hours).-It is a dehumidifier as well.-It has a remote control. What I didn't like:-The instruction manual leaves something to be desired. As I said, the operation is intuitive, but I couldn't figure out where the water goes. The manual talks about manually emptying the water reservoir if the water pump is damaged. But I didn't know if the reservoir would fill up. The instructions talk about unplugging and draining it outside (which is a cumbersome thought). After searching online for how this type of unit works, I discovered that water is vented out the window through evaporation. We have not had to empty it yet.-This is heavy. It isn't easy to roll it from room to room. The wheels needed to be bigger and swivel better.-The adapter for the window was too long for our standard 26 inch double hung window. We had to trim some off with the table saw to make it fit. It adapts for larger windows, but should have been made for narrower ones as well. Older homes, which are less likely to have central air will also have some narrower windows than new homes.- The continuous drainage option would be fine for a basement area with a sump pump. But it is useless in my bedroom. It would be nice if this had a reservoir like a dehumidifier that can be removed and emptied in a sink. It does not.Overall, this is handy for our household right now. I haven't tried anything similar, so I have no reference for comparison. It does what we need it to do, but I would hate to see what would happen if the pump stops working and I have to figure out how to empty water. The fact that it mentions this in the manual makes me concerned. At least for now it is working and it does the job. The extra features are a bonus!

we bought the 1st one and it didn't work at ...
we bought the 1st one and it didn't work at all so I returned..no problems with return that went well.. we got another one delivered and model again was defective.. it is 48 degrees outside and we had it on heat mode..it didnt change temp in the 200 sq foot room and after 24 hours of continuous running on heat mode ice had formed all over the machine itself..all the air intakes..weird.. so after 2 times of defective product we returned and going to replace with a different model from a differnet manufacturer. They did take it back and was shipped in a timely manor so that is a plus for them but 2 machines defective is not good
