Overall it works great. A hot, precise small flame that is easy to start. Nice construction that is solid and all moving parts appear to snap back and forth easily. Overall it took a little review to figure out how to load this with butane, the +/- switch at the bottom is not an on/off switch for filling, but rather just plug and fill with the butane and the +/- is for the speed of gas discharge and resulting size of the flame. All instructions are through an online link with no printed materials. Luckily I have a smartphone and it was all pretty easy.

I'm giving this a 1 star review in the hopes that those with the same issue I had find the review and are able to fix their torch. My torch would not light unless I held down the trigger and lit it with another lighter (proving that at some level it worked). The solution to getting it to work was really easy. The metal wire on the tip that creates the spark was not bent at the right angle to ignite the gas. I bent the wire so it was closer to where the gas comes out and it works fine now. It sucks that I had to fix a new product, but at least the fix was simple. I would give this a 5 star rating, but again, I give it a lower rating in hopes that those with the same issue find this review and fix their torch.

Very cute torch! Works rather well. I wanted something that would be good to try out making creme brulee for the first time and this was great. I would have liked instructions to be shipped with the torch and not have to email the company for them. The plastic parts (the black parts) feel a little cheap and flimsy. Otherwise I think it's great!

I don't know what possessed me....I sat alone...naked but with clothes on, emotionally naked and wet. The world turned away, muddled laughter conversation and clanking of silverware seemed distant, faint. I poured myself into a bottle of wine as it poured itself back into me. Everything about my day seemed to drown me in an elaborate wake of decisions..then I saw her...smiling in a tight red dress some 50 feet away but it could've been 100...I wasn't wearing my glasses. Blonde beautiful she illuminated the room. As she walked towards me I wiped off my drool and snot and picked up my head. Eyes all fell her way and the room hushed quiet. They all seemed to stop breathing as she neared me and stopped. She reached down and touched my hand looking deeply into my eyes past my anguish and spoke, "I'm going to have to ask you to leave". Suddenly the light shone bright and everyone clambered back to this business as she turned and walked away. Luckily I had my culinary butane torch on me so I grabbed some napkins and made for the men's restroom. Once I was alone I quickly got to work starting a small garbage fire then making my way into the ladies room to do the same. The final touch was a quick stop at the coat room to fire up the guests. Wow does this torch light up so quickly! Within ten the whole place was on fire.

If you can get it to ignite properly, this is a nice little torch. “If” is the big question though. I have approximately a 50% success rate. A butane lighter from the gas station works just as well, but it doesn’t look as nice.

Got this as a Christmas gift for my sister to make creme brulee, and turned out great. After about a month, the torch stopped working. Apparently the gas flow was messed up and the flame was coming out in bursts. My sister (being a mechanical engineer) told me she took it apart and saw that a small piece was bent inside and that she thinks that's why it wasn't working properly. Nice packaging and great while it lasted, but I'll be returning it.

What a great little kitchen tool! If you like to impress your friends with your culinary prowess & skills, get one of these! It's easy to create a crispy sugar crust on your custard dessert, just fire up this little butane torch and viola! A pass or two of the very controlled flame from this compact torch creates that sugary crunch that you are looking for. I know that I'll find other uses for this torch as well. It fits in your hand, is about 5" and runs on butane, so easy to use.. you can even use it to light the charcoal in your bbq or to start a campfire if you want. Small & compact, it stores easily in a kitchen drawer so you'll have it at hand whenever you need it. I would recommend one of these to all the budding pastry chefs out there who are outfitting their kitchen with the tools of the trade. I'm very glad I got this for mine.

A VERY pleasant surprise!! The presentation alone was worth the cost. The device performed flawlessly. Be sure to purge any air in tank by depressing nozzle at base of handle, then fill with premium butane. Let the torch warm up to room temp (filling will chill butane lowering the amount of pressure available to perform optimally) which will raise the available fuel pressure and allow you to have a flawless flame during extended periods of use.Overall the device, its quality and presentation exceeded my expectations at this price point. Would make a great gift that will impress anyone with its cost, value and performance.
