Cavalo

This record is ridiculously amazingly great!!! I just stumbled across it and am so glad I did. While Rodrigo wistfully glazes through these enchanting melodies his voice portrays this anxiousness that is inspiring. The rhythmic songs make me want to dance and the musicianship is phenomenal. I typically go for bigger sounding acoustic guitars, but his tiny thin guitar sound works so well with his songs and voice. I don't care that I don't understand the majority of the songs, he can still tell a story with his tone and melody. This album quickly became one of my favorites this year.

I saw Rodrigo Amarante play at Pickathon, and fell in love with his expressive face and multilingual word craft right away. This is a truly lovely album. My family and I love it.

Amarante conferma di essere un artista poliedrico, capace di passare con disinvoltura dal rock dei Little Joyce, allo sfrenato samba degli Orquestra Imperial, fino ad approdare a questo disco solista dalle atmosfere ovattate, autunnali, confortevoli. Certamente non per tutti, ma solo per chi sa cogliere questa manciata di gemme preziose.

Este disco me tiene secuestrado el corazon. Y no se por que, la verdad. Cuando algo te hace sentir, no hay mas vueltas que darle.

ホドリゴ・アマランチのソロアルバム。１曲１曲がそれぞれ絵画のようで色んな面を見せてくれ、「ロス・エルマノスの」というレッテルが剥がれる感じがしました。ロス・エルマノス時代はどちらかというとロック担当的イメージがあったのですが、アコースティックな静かな曲も少しメローなサウダージ感があり渋い味でてます。聴けば聴くほど好きになる曲ばかり。ただポルトガル語とフランス語の歌詞は意味が分からないので、やはり日本語版が欲しいと思いました。（タイトル曲Cavaloは曲中に日本語歌詞の朗読が入っているので意味はわかります。難解ですけど。）以前、知人に借りた時はタイトル通り「馬(Cavalo)」の写真のジャケットでしたが、入手したCDはシンプルな白ジャケットに変わってます。もちろん内容は同じですけど。
