WOW. That is what I first thought when I gave this a listen.Maker is well known in the Chicago underground as a producer. Here is I believe his first instrumental release and what a release it is. It personally reminds me of early 90's Mo Wax releases. Those who don;t know mo wax, well it is a seminal record label run by a guy called James Lavelle and responsible for the also seminal DJ Shadow Endtroducing, aswell as earlier ep's. Course, Shadow is dated now, and producing tunes that are so generic and boring they could be Moby or fatboyslim. As is a lot of stuff on Mo Wax now. Bully and Anticon are more than cool replacements though. Back to Maker. This album has really cruchy beats. This is trip hop/big beat/ whatever you want to call it, at it's best, and believe me, I hunt for this kind of stuff. Personal favourite is track 5, Broken Promises. This track has a vocal which has to be sampled from some crazy jingle from the sixties or something!! It is fantastic, and used to a great effect.Weakest track, track 2. Only because it is way too ska for me, never really being a fan of it, and for me it doesn't really fit on the album. But please don't let that put you off.fans of Anticon artisist Alias, Controller 7, Sixtoo, Dj Signify etc will love this stuff.couldn't recomend it more!

Un très bon album de trip hop bien sympatoche. A découvrir pour les amateurs de la grande époque de DJ SHADOW, KRUSH et RJD2...
