A beautiful (if painful) book!!!
A beautiful book, one that Americans ought to read. How much we have forgotten the trauma. pain and death of WWI!

Some very moving parts . . .
I was deeply moved by most of these pieces. I didn't know much about John McRae other than the poem. I particularly found George Elliott Clarke's Diary excerpts to be vivid memories. Wade Davis's details could be numbing to some readers, but I found the piece to be masterful. More pictures and maps would have earned 5 stars from me. I recommend this collection to readers wanting a very human view of WWI.
