The Bald Eagle, whose name derives from the conspicuous appearance of its white feathered head, has been the national bird of the USA since 1782. The only eagle solely native to North America, the bald eagle has been a protected species since 1940. Bald eagles pair for life. They can weigh up to 14 lbs and an amazing wing span of 8 feet. Overall the project will use 3/4 inch wood and a few pieces will use 1/4 inch thinner and thicker pieces. The pattern offers suggestions such as grain direction and taper sections. This pattern was designed to be cut out in two ways. Choose the way you want, make your copies and mark your lines with a Highlighter marker for easier cutting. Very easy to do! No written instructions are really needed. It is assumed a woodworker who crafts intarsia, already knows how to create them. View the larger image slideshow (above) to see the actual printed pattern you will receive. Number of pieces in this project: 27-38 pcs. 27 pcs if you make the head only which will measure 11 x 13.5 inches. 38 pcs if you make the head with the frame which will then measure 15 x 13 inches. Skill Level: Intermediate
