McCall's Patterns M9423 Misses' Pioneer Costumes, Size MED

This is a great pattern for pioneer reenactments and not difficult to sew. To beginner sewers, I advise taking your time and using patience with the yoke and collar--those are the trickiest parts. I added a small snap to the upper corner diagonally from the top buttonhole to hold down that point. Also, to keep the bonnet from slipping too far forward on your head, sew in a hair comb (like you'd pin your hair back with) on the inside top center edge of the brim, with the teeth pointing toward the outer edge of the brim. bought the pattern to make a bonnet but the bonnet pieces and the directions sheet were missing.the seller was very nice, refunded my money, appologized., and did not require me to go to the post office to return the partial pattern, which I appreciated as am confined to a wheelchair.

There are many modern apron patterns out there, but most have little fabric and aren't particularly useful to protect ones clothing while cooking. I have used this pattern to make two aprons, just shortened the bottom and just yesterday, I completed an apron that was long like the pioneer women wore with their long dresses. I like the longer version as well because it protects dark colored pants much better than the short aprons.

I purchased this for the dress as a nightgown since the style is the same. It is hard to find a nightgown that goes to the top of your feet in the traditional flannel nightgown style and this pattern is perfect. I just add length to the pattern and the perfect nightgown and shorten the lentgth of the apron pattern and perfect apron. I would highly recommend this to others.

This is an easy to sew pattern. It will use more material than listed on the package because fabric no longer is 45 inches wide.
