A great emergency radio
The most important item we all should have is a good emergency plan that everyone knows. You know, where to go, what to do first, second, third, etc. this is the most important thing in an emergency situation. Why a Radio –Radios may be old school but I believe anyone serious about emergency preparation will have a radio just like the Total Survival Dynamo Solar Hand Crank Radio. Having accurate up to date information is possible through the radio (AM/FM/Shortwave), and the Internet (cell phone). If your cell is broken, lost, or has a dead battery, you’ll be glad you have a radio. The Total Survival Dynamo Solar Hand Crank Radio has a hand crank with a small red led light that informs you by its intensity if your cranking is putting power into the battery. The handle appears to be leather and it is comfortable to carry. It isn’t heavy to carry which is a plus. It has a pretty bright 4-led flashlight and a small task light that would be helpful if working with something small in your hands in the dark or if it were to be above you on a ledge. There is a siren feature which is pretty loud which also triggers the flashlight to work as a red strobe light. I’ve found the AM/FM reception to be very good. The Short Wave reception isn’t good but none of the radios I researched has good Short Wave reception without help from an antenna like the Sangean ANT-60.My only gripe about this radio which is common among these types of radios are all the various adapters that come with the radio for all sorts of devices. I took the small zip lock bag they came in and some packing tape and attached them to the back of the radio so I have them if needed.

This radio is one of the biggest pieces of crap I have ever bought
I should have listened to other buyers. This radio is one of the biggest pieces of crap I have ever bought. Aside from being very chinsey with knobs that do not even line up with the text the 'new' unit I received was packaged extremely poorly, plastic case and clear parts were all scratched up and several features including the light and crank did not work at all. The radio tuning and reception was awful as I had trouble tuning in almost any station that was not within about 2 miles of my location. NOAA radio did work ok. If I would have to rely on this radio in a weather or other emergency I would likely have nothing !! Needless to say I am dropping it off at UPS today as a return.

Survival Radio with Flashlight and Reading Light
Very handy, compact, and lightweight easy to use survival radio with flashlight and reading light. Picks up radio and weather stations with ease - very strong signal. Nice large lettering that is easy to read. Like that you can run on AA batteries or the rechargeable battery that comes with the radio. We have frequent severe weather warnings here in North Carolina and this will be a valued addition to our hurricane survival kit. Like having everything you need in one handy device. This gadget fits the bill nicely. Also like that it comes with various adapters as well. All this for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Maybe I got a used unit?
Right out of the box, the flashlight didn't work and neither did the radio. Very poorly written operator's "manual". The unit in general had a cheap feel to it - the switch stops did not line up with the switch's labeling, so you had to guess which setting you were on. Since I was buying this for emergency use, I decided to return this one and spend more for a better unit.

Five Stars
I love everything about this nifty gadget! I use the radio almost daily at short intervals for music, news and talk shows using solar charge.Update: Came in very handy during the Hurricane Irma power outage. I'm amazed at how long the radio works on the dry cell/solar charge. It is secure to have the AA battery option too, when needed.

Cheap you-know-what
Very cheaply made. Handle came off first time I picked it up. SW radio stations not clearly laid out - would be very hard to tune in.I tried to output to my cellphone but no sign of even a tricklecharge. Plus it's huge.As an alternative, I suggest the Eton FRX3 .This review was NOT supplied in exchange for a free product

Radio reception poor!
All that I can say for this product is that the flashlight works, the reading light works, and the siren alarm works. I bought it to have a radio when the power goes off and sadly I could not reliably pick up any of the local stations. Returned.
