Okay, to be honest I bought these because I needed an ice pack. The ones I wanted, I couldn't find. I don't understand what "lid side" means. I will say in a small, soft sided lunch bag with no insulation, my sandwhich and yogurt are cool at 11am when I pack it around 6am, but not much after that. I put the pack in the pocket of the lid with yogurt on top of my sandwhich on the side with chips, granola, and a piece of fruit on the other side. I like that it is a few and I don't have to remember to take it out evertyday to have a cool lunch the next. Down side, my lack of insulation in favor of fashion means condensation and a cold spot.

The form factor of these are great and the quality is superb. They will not, however, keep things frozen or even very, very cold like their larger size cousins do. Good for a lunch box but not for a cooler designed to keep things frozen. Bought them for a portable cool suit case and they did not provide enough cooling as an equivalent sized single plastic icepack.

These are only 5x5" and are very thin, so I need at least two or three of the four to keep my lunch cold for 4 hours or so. These would probably work great for a small child's lunchbox, but I would prefer something thicker for an adult lunchbox.

I really like these. I use a couple larger packs in the top of my lunch pail and use these to stick between items I really want to be sure stay cool. Because they are relatively flat, you can slide them in almost anywhere.

Stayed cold relatively well. I like the slimness which doesn't take up too much room in the cooler.

Works great! The ice packs keep my lunch fresh for hours.

I love how flat these are. Fits easily in a lunch box.

Wish they stayed colder a little longer but great for kids lunch boxes
