One of my worst consumer habits is my consumption of single-use plastic straws. I recycle, compost, use my own shopping bag, buy earth friendly products...but one habit I could never kick is my addiction to plastic straws. I would shrug off this nasty habit by considering all the other good consumer habits that I have. Well, after finding this product I a can say I feel much better about my single use straw habit. I know it is still not the most earth-friendly habit, but at least I can compost these and know they're not ending up in the landfill or ocean.

Searching for straws took me longer than I expected. I immediately began looking at the tranquilo straws for a number of reasons: they are made in the USA, are 100% food grade, the straws will decompose in less than 60 days. Its hard to believe that plastic straws can take more than 200 years to decompose. Also, a portion of the proceeds when you purchase the straws goes towards the Ocean Cleanup project which is the largest ocean clean up of plastic & pollutants. I wanted a straw to drink a mixture of apple cider vinegar & water and I was happy that the straw stayed together. I wouldn't recommend using this straw for thick drinks such as milkshakes or thick smoothies as the straw diameter is 1/4". But, for everyday use especially with children tranquilo straws are the best! I highly recommend the straws to anyone who likes using straws & wants to help our environment.

Love that these are environmentally friendly and that they are still 'bendy'. I didn't know that could be done with paper straws!They seem pretty sturdy and stand up fine to regular cold cocktails. The only reason I didn't give the last star is that the diameter is a bit smaller than I want. They won't work well for frozen drinks or smoothies or shakes I don't think. How about it Tranquilo Earth Friendly Products... Can we have the same product in a fatter straw please? Thanks.Too much plastic out there in our world and so I'm happy to find these. I just hope a larger diameter will become available.

Loved the pirate staws. Will continue to order various colors from this company. I like my straws to match my drinks. The straw is good quality, holds up in the drink for a long time, is biodegradable and made in America.

really sturdy and one straw will last all day with most liquids. They are however a bit on thin side (about 7mm max) and not as long as a normal straw (about 3/8" shorter). If they were as long as a normal straw, they would be 5 stars, as is they don't stick out of a water bottle so you have to pull it out to use it that way.

Okay. Like because they are natural and don't contain plastic. But, they get a little soggy when wet after a while if sipping drink instead of drinking immediately.

These straws are very pretty and were a lovey addition to our holiday party. Unfortunately these straws fall apart after being in liquid (hot or cold) after 30 mins or so. So as long as your guests are drinking their drinks quickly, you're good! I'd still get them again though.

I purchased these after reading that plastic straws are in the landfill nearly forever, and we only use them for a few minutes! Never going back.
