Fresh, Sassy How-to-Do-it Novel
Gosh, if what you wanted to read was garbage that's dissing celebs, get a subscription to "National Inquirer." This book is a fun and informative look at a career, many of us never knew existed much less how it worked.I've been around the world of Hollywood having worked as an extra, extras casting director and crew for tv/film, but I'd never been at a celeb award show before. The closest I'd been was the day before the Academy Awards once when we took our daughter and her boyfriend from Germany to tour Hollywood. We respectfully walked alongside the carpet, since we didn't want to get any dirt on a carpet that looked ready for the event. No one chased us away.I agreed with Gaida's tips on how to crash big events or parties by using confidence and distraction. His tips had the creative nuances of an insider, and the stories illustrating the tips had great drama so that I was cheering for him and his friends to make it past security. You could apply these tips to many experiences in life. For actors who plan to some day be on that red carpet, what a great how-to-do-it book from the viewpoint of the celeb escort. After reading Gaida's book, it would be a breeze for an actor new to award shows to navigate this world and avoid pitfalls. The whole point is to shine, and Gaida makes it clear that what he does is to help each of his celeb's to make a great impression. Any actor would want to request Gaida because of his intelligence, experience and truly caring love of entertainers because of their talent, beauty, and accomplishments. You'll love reading Gaida and Aloisi's fresh, sassy romp through the world of Hollywood awards events whether it will help your life or even if you're just one of those fans who loves to get a photograph with a beloved celeb.

Light and fun - but the bad editing will make you crazy.
This book, "Arm Candy," is brain candy. It's superficial, trivial, and for the most part, a fun read. If you can get past the complete - and I do mean complete - lack of editing and proofreading. Whoever this publisher is, they should be ashamed of themselves for the truly terrible editing job, as well as the horrible formating for the electronic version. As for the contents, I enjoyed the stories and Chris' description of his job. I always find the backstories as fascinating as what is happening out front, so this bood gave me some insight into what actually goes on at award shows. I will certainly watch them and the pre-shows with a different perspective. As long as you don't have to pay too much for it, this is not a bad book; I have certainly read worse.

Names names!
If you like the back story for Hollywood events and you want a book that names names, this is for you! Really liked the book. Michael writes in a style that not only places you at the events, he pulls you in so that when he's happy, nervous, annoyed, you are right there with him. Even when the celebrities are not on their best behavior he's not coy about who they are. The only instance where he doesn't name a name was of a closeted gay actor - and I totally respect Michael for keeping the identity to himself. It's so refreshing to read the experiences of someone who really loved his career, and who keeps reminding us that he's just a normal person with a really cool job. He sounds like the kind of person I'd like to hang out with. This book won't exactly change the world or change your life, but it will definitely give you an enjoyable day or two. He seems like the kind of person who would read these reviews. Michael, if you do, thanks for writing this book.

Some fun & interesting stories, but overall not well written
I enjoyed reading what this author had to say about working with some of the celebrities he has escorted. His stories felt real and from the heart. However, I was hoping for more "meat." Although I wouldn't have expected this young man to be an excellent writer, didn't anyone edit this book? I may be picky, but I was put off by wrong words, missing punctuation and run-on sentences.I skipped a lot of the "pointers" about how to be a celeb escort (not why I read the book), but he certainly doesn't suffer from a low self-esteem problem!

Insightful-Informative- Thoughful
Arm Candy was a neat read. Timely in the sense that I finished reading the book the night of the recent Oscars! Watched the show in a new light thanks to the author's insider morsels regarding the planning and execution of such a glam hollywood event. The book is quite real and thoughtful and took this reader back to the day of living in a very large city on the east coast surrounded by wealth and fortune and struggling to look the part but in reality, doing loads of window shopping. This book humanizes hollywood and to a great extent brings home the addage "do what it takes to get the job done". We all do it every day....that is that hollywood produces and we in turn watch the product. This book is a fancy and fun flow chart to that product!

Horrific
I am embarrassed I actually spent money on this book. To begin with the writing was dreadful. It read like the rough (very rough) draft of a book instead of a book itself. It even had the occasional typo. Whoever edited this should lose their job. While there are a few interesting tidbits, this book felt like it was written by a starstruck fan, not an industry insider. Gaida gushes profusely throughout the book about how amazing and glamorous and nice various celebrities are during what are sometimes nothing but brief and uninteresting interactions with them. There are thousands upon thousands of people working in jobs that interact with celebrities regularly in one form or another like this guy. Security guards, body guards, publicists, journalists, photographers, hair and make-up people and many more. They don't write books for a number of reasons. First and foremost because it's crass and unprofessional. And, frankly, most celebrity interactions aren't really all that interesting as this book proves. Any really interesting stuff would likely end Gaida's career and he has - wisely for his career but unfortunately for the reader - left it all out.Ultimately this is a poorly written, toothless book from a low-level, starstruck cog in the machine that is Hollywood. Save your money.
