These superb quality, hand-made leather satchels are stunning. A traditional herringbone Harris tweed with large front pocket. They are lovingly made by the Barrhead Kid Leather Company of Scotland, who specialise in the tanning of Wild Scottish Deerskin. Fine leather, however, does not need to be consumed to be appreciated, lasting for well over a hundred years. There are less than half a dozen tanneries left in Scotland, and this tannery is the only one processing wild Scottish deerskin.All skins are traceable and come from estates using fully-trained, registered stalkers, monitored by the Deer Commision For Scotland. This satchel is truly unique, not only is it a purely scottish product each one is as unique as the deer and tweed that it originated from. Therefore each bag with vary slightly in colour and pattern. Traditional made from scottish deer skin this bag has a soft and tactile feel to it. If a handbag is what you want, this is it!
This is a lovely bag, and after much research before I purchased it, really good value. It is beautifully made, all the stitching is straight, no odd ends left, and all the lines in the tartan plaid are matched up correctly.The blue one is centralised and matched on both on the front and the back, as in the photograph, which is such a delight. I hate it when they are all mismatched, it means that not enough care has been taken during manufacture. It a large bag, which can take loads of bits and pieces, and is also, of course, very fashionable these days. It is also nice to know that it is handmade and woven out of natural fabrics, in this country, which makes it that more special and different. I can't recommend it highly enough. Eat your heart out foreign designers!
