So, there are people writing reviews both good and bad. Some of the bad reviews try to convince you they are very technically savvy, so it must be the fault of the device. We bought our current home just shy of 5 years ago and I started installing these shortly after. Since then we have installed 16 switches, both toggle and dimmers. I'm that time we have had no service failures. Occasionally when the WiFi or power gets interrupted the switches don't reconnect, but if you reset the breaker for that switch for 20 seconds it will rejoin its friends in the working world. Our shed is completely wireless, the outside mood lights, motion detectors etc. Our porch light comes on at sunset and turns itself off 20 minutes before sunrise. I have lights turn on before my wife gets ready for work so she can see on the stairs so she won't get hurt. Our daughters room lights up 5 minutes before her alarm is scheduled to go off to help her wake up more naturally. When my wife isn't answering her phone because it's on silent but I don't know what she wants from the grocery store, I can look to see which lights are on and I can flash them so she knows I'm trying to get ahold of her. When we travel, I can remotely stimulate our typical nights. With Alexa, we have commands like "watch television" which turns off all the downstairs lights and turns on a accent light in the living room. You can say Merry Christmas to Alexa and it turns on the outlets that we use for the tree and garland. The best part? My wife leaves lights on in the basement 40x's per day and I don't have to walk down there to turn them off. At night I tell Alexa "turn off everything" and all lights in the group "everything" turn off. I don't have to roam the house, I just wait 3 seconds for the confirmation that it is done for me. These second generation switches are super easy to connect to the network compared to the first gen. The first gen wasn't bad, but the process could be complicated by the device (phone etc) that you were using to connect with because of "intelligent" WiFi handling. These new 2nd gen skip all of that, saving a couple minutes and loads of frustration. We love them and talk about how much we appreciate them on a weekly basis, and have for the nearly 5 years. I have flood lights on the front and back of my house that were once tied to an old dimmer switch that resided in my attic. It was a pain to have to go up every year during daylight savings to change it. I had a kitchen remodel in 2021. I had asked one of the guys to put the lights on a switch in the kitchen. I guess I didn't communicate it well enough cause he just took lights off dimmer and put them on a switch in the attic. 4 years later, I FINALLY decided to go up myself and move lights from attic switch to a hall switch that controlled lights in garage and over garage door. That wire came to the attic, but was for a three way switch that was buried in wall. I could get to it, but I'd have to splice to it. That was gonna be my "plan b". After frustration cleared, I wondered if there was a switch that could be controlled by an app. After searching on Amazon, I found this Lutton app controlled switch. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for and hoping it would be. It is PERFECT. It has 5 wires so you can wire it for a single pole switch (Black goes to power "Line", Red goes to lights "Load", White "Neutral ", Green "Ground") and there's also a Yellow wire that is taped that is only used for a three way switch application. Once hooked up, you get a green flashing light which lets you know it's connected and working. Download Lutton app and the setup is easy. It took me 4 years to finally get this project done. I always say, there's a time and place for everything. Just wish I had known about this Lutton app controlled switch sooner!! Thank you Lutron!!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

I think I’m up to 26 or 27 of these in my house. They are by far the most reliable smart switches that I’ve ever owned coming from a former Z wave system. I haven’t had any disconnection problems and they integrate seamlessly through Alexa. Best part is they are matter compatible so even if their app is deprecated at some point, it will still work with any matter devices. Actuation is smooth and they have an indicator light that you can turn on or off, depending on if you want to use it as a locator beacon. I have several on three-way switches and even one on a four-way switch that works great. I wish they would come out with a version that could control two switches from a single gang outlet. I also wish there was a version that was IP 67 or 68 rated so I could use it for my outdoor light switches.

I bought this switch to replace another WiFi switch in my garage. The switch controls the outdoor lights on our driveway and I wanted to be able to set them up on a timer, having them come on at sundown and turn off at sunset. The app that you download to operate the switch has that feature and I have found Leviton products to be generally good quality. The install was pretty simple. You do need a neutral wire for this switch to work. Connecting the switch to my WiFi was a little more challenging since the signal in my garage, where the switch is located, is not great. In this situation, you may find yourself having to reset the connection from time to time, which while not a big deal, is a little annoying. I did try calling customer support a couple of times, but the wait times were very long and ultimately I gave up. Also, there have been a couple of times where after a firmware update, I had to reconnect the switch to WiFi again. Honestly, since it is working fine without the firmware update, I have just skipped it. Overall the Leviton D2155 is a good product. I would definitely purchase it again.

I recently added about $1000 worth of these devices to my home. I have dimmers fan speed control switches remotes and anywhere companions. Once you do one or two of each device the rest are easy to install. The instructions are very thorough and the devices are robust. The app is very advanced and well developed. The dimmers dim LED lights very well. (Some dimmers cut out low or flicker). I haven’t had any problems with my lights flickering. You do need to adjust your minimum and your maximum to help fine-tune the dimmers to each light. The fan speed controls do not hum. I had one switch completely fail on me within the first 30 days of installation. I contacted customer service via the in app reporting process and I had a new one in my hand within about a week and a half and a prepaid label to return the damaged one. I am planning on expanding a few more devices in the future and consider this an excellent platform.

UPDATE: I had nothing but nightmares when I first installed this switch, but Leviton has come out with some firmware updates that have completely fixed my connectivity and control issues. If you are on any firmware less than 1.3, you will probably have problems. The newest firmware has transformed the performance of the switch to the point where I've now installed 10 more. (OLD REVIEW: I've already wasted hours doing troubleshooting, and after a couple days of trying, they still don't work as they should. A MUCH cheaper brand I used to use (that's made by TeePee) is far more reliable. The only reason I went with Leviton is the promise of a three-way dimmer in the collection. I ordered enough switches and dimmers for my entire house to convert over to Leviton so it could all be on one app. That doesn't make any difference when virtually none of the devices can stay on my network. I even have reserved IP addresses for each switch, and one of the switches is only 10 ft (3m) from my router. The quality of wifi connection is inexcuseable and the failure of the schedule to execute when only one of 4 devices can stay on the network is just sad. And yes, I made sure the firmware was updated. I feel like Leviton owes me big $ for the hours of my life they stole from me.)

These are easy to install and setup. Their overall quality is higher than the Meross devices I replaced. They require an account with Leviton for initial configuration, an undesirable privacy sacrifice, but Leviton's privacy policy is not egregiously bad. A mobile phone is required for configuration, and the mobile app works well. I am afraid to try the Matter capability because that is irreversible. I have an Apple HomePod Mini, but I actually use Home Assistant, running on a Raspberry Pi, for domotics. At the time I purchased these, the instructions showed no means of rebooting the devices. According to a Leviton support article, "Simply press and hold the up paddle/button for 3 to 5 seconds and then release. This reboots the device and runs a diagnostic mode." According to the device documentation, holding the up/on button for seven seconds puts the device into "setup mode", temporarily. Whether the device reboots is unclear. Holding the up/on button for an additional seven seconds causes a reset to factory defaults--yikes. Regarding the motion-sensing switch, I have been tinkering with the motion-detection settings for more than a month. It appears that the motion detection has significant variance in its radial sensitivity. The response time is significant: you can walk by it in a hallway before it turns the light on. Increasing the sensitivity improves that performance, but also causes nuisance trips. I increased the sensitivity and blocked part of the sensor with white electrical tape. Today, all Leviton devices dropped off the WiFi network. No other devices were affected. Rebooting the wireless access point brought the Leviton devices back online. This might be a problem with key rotation--an obvious flaw in Leviton's products. I have a Cisco 2.4 GHz WiFi access point for these kinds of devices, and it shows the Leviton devices are using it. The Leviton devices themselves do not provide the SSID of their WiFi network, apparently. Changing WiFi settings requires a complete reset of the device--a huge inconvenience because the device loses its subscription to HomeKit, requiring re-subscription, becoming a new device, rewriting automations for the device, etc. Again, all six Leviton devices dropped off the WiFi network. This time, I was at home and saw that a short-duration power surge had occurred. All devices were flashing an amber light, indicating that WiFi connectivity was lost. My wireless access point is protected from power problems by a UPS. I tried the reboot instructions above, and none of the devices were recovered. The Leviton app was incapable of recognizing and communicating with these devices. The wireless access point did not show the Leviton devices connected. Rebooting the wireless access point brought the Leviton devices back online. Again, this is Leviton's fault, not Cisco's. This problem has not recurred after several months, so it may have been fixed.. I found that these devices apparently do not save their DHCP lease. If they boot when the DHCP server is down, they will not have the TCP-IP configurations they received from the server, meaning they lose connectivity. They do poll for the server and will regain their configuration if the server comes back online. Leviton pushes firmware updates to these devices, even though "auto-updates" is off. Leviton publishes some descriptions of the updates, but those are not timely, and details are lacking.

Easy to install. These switches are much deeper than a regular switch, so you have to be quite careful about ensuring you have room to install into the outlet box; and be extra careful when tucking all the wires back into the box. Connecting it to the app was much easier than i expected it would be, and then connecting with Google Home was flawless. I really like the scheduling feature built into the app, it made setting up timers very simple. The switch does seem to stick out the front of the faceplate more than a regular decora switch does, but its not a big deal and not noticeable. See the photo and notice how the leviton switch on the left sticks out more. I like that the switch turns on instantly when clicked, and there is no delay like I've experienced with some other smart switches.

I have 9 of these switches (Generation 1), that have worked flawlessly for 2 years on Apple's HomeKit. The Gen 2 switch I purchased has constant "No Response" status on Apple HomeKit (more than 50% of the time). I have deleted the device, reconfigured and re-powered multiple times with no improvement. Looks like the firmware needs updating. Reminds me of the older Gen 1 firmware issues when this product originally came out. Hope Leviton takes the necessary steps. It is a good product, but cannot invest $60 a pop for 50% functionality. Would not recommend until updated firmware comes out. ** Update Sept 6/21 (Changing to 4 stars) - Leviton has been very helpful trouble shooting this issue. I now have the GEN #2 unit functioning properly. Updating the firmware to 1.0.29 was key point. Also missing a selection on one of my wireless WiFI SSIDs to enable "enhanced MultiCast". Gen 2 seems to use a slightly different technology. Great support from Leviton Tech support! Will be purchasing more units.
