Additionally, there is a large sticker / info on the backside. If you hold it as you would when reading the info, that would be the correct side. On a side note, I'm not sure I would recommend this, as it's a little 'finicky'. The concept is good, where a single button can be used for a toggle (meaning on AND off), and also if you hold it versus pressing it, it can do other functions, but I find that it has difficulty determining what is a press and what is a hold-- this is a factor due to the latency in communication between the remote and the controller. I'm not sure if this issue is reduced if the remote is closer in proximity or not. It's also a bit 'futuristic' looking if you want it to blend in with other switches in a room, this will clearly stand out. One feature I really like is the ability to recharge the unit via mini-USB. **Q: This can be used to launch SmartApps via which capabilities?** A: It is considered a “button” but you must log into your smartthings account on a computer and create a device handler first by copying and pasting the code in the link below to your device. Follow the instructions below. Click on "Update" Save Changes **Q: Can this switch be used/configured to arm and disarm using smartthings?** A: This is not a device that has a typical smart things configuration. 1) Out of the box you cannot do a simple “discover” and connect to the device. 2) Additional steps are needed to load device drivers into your SmartThings IDE using GitHub. (this is not isolated to this vendor - I have a second remote and it also required additional steps to allow it to be used)It took be under 30 minutes to find the source code, suck it into my IDE, save/configure and publish. Currently I have it set up to turn 3 different lights on with buttons 1,2,3. Button 4 turns on all lights (4 GE Smart (Dimmable) switches and 3 smart bulbs) I haven’t played with it enough to determine if I can set the lighting to a specific intensity – i.e. 10%I did find that there is a lag in the device releasing the targeted device. If I depress button 1, lights go on. If I immediately depress button 1 afterward, there is no reaction . it takes a few more seconds until depressing button 1 will then turn off the lights.on a side note, the remote appears to be solidly built and provides feedback that the buttons have been activated (sound & vibration). It's double the price of the other remote I purchased, but should serve the intended audience better (an elderly relative) **Q: Is the battery replaceable? If so, what kind of cell is it? Thanks The team at Aeotec. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little controller *by D***A on Reviewed in the United States on 17 April 2023* I installed ziggbie controlled blinds in our master bedroom and connected them to the Hubitat and wanted a switch on the wall I could use to control them. This works a treat with the Hubitat, was super easy to mount and is easy to program. It offers single and double tap events as well as long press, so I have set it to open and close the two sets of blinds on each window and double tap to open or close 25% more or less. Works great and is very attractive and I loved that I could mount it anywhere. I have yet to need to recharge it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It DOES work with Samsung SmartThings *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States on 12 August 2020* I read here many reviews about whether Aeotec WallMote Quad works with SmartThings because I was seeing conflicting information. In the end I decided to buy it and give it a try. I can confirm that as of August 2020 WallMote does work with SmartThings. I used the newer SmartThings app and easily added the device to my network. Without doing anything else I have support for each button pushed and each button held. Those actions can control other devices or scenes. Also, a single button action (e.g., button pushed) and control both turning a device on AND turning a device off. No need to use two different buttons/actions. What does not work out of the box is swipe action. I'll try to get that one working next. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Neat way to control smart home actions, after you figure out the setup. *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on 5 November 2018* I purchased 2 of these Wallmote quads to control sections of landscape lighting on pathways leading to or from different doors, mounting one at each door. Connection to the smart things hub was pretty straight forward but it is intially seen as a generic device. In order to make it work you need to create a device handler via copied code from Aeotec via github. This requires a fair bit of knowledge in smartthings control website and github, although not uncommon to get many devices to work correctly with Smartthings. Hopefully this step goes away when Samsung and the device manufacturers get the device recognition worked out better. Once connected and the device handler figured out you need to install the button controller smartapp from smartthings to control switches, scenes, locks, modes, etc. You can control multiple switches with one press or one hold of each button. The button controller acts as a toggle, each press cycles the switch from its current state. There is a slight delay from the time the switch can be pressed for a second action, though in my experience the switch action happens pretty quickly. One thing that tripped me up here was the need for a separate button controller smartapp for each Wallmote.Once I got through the setup and understood the switch action, I really like how the Wallmote works. It saved me a lot of money vs hardwiring new switches from the interior of the house to exterior power sources for the low voltage lighting. I have now programmed other purposes for the switch, such as controlling a scene that ensures all smart light switches are off as we exit the door. I have not had these long enough to comment on battery life, they show as 100% after several days of use. The magnetic mounts work very well and will allow simple recharging capability.
