The Lady Most Likely: A Novel in Three Parts

Highly entertaining
Set at a house party where the Earl of Brialy is going to choose a wife. He has his sister make a list of names of the most eligible women and invited them to the party. Unfortunately for him, each woman is gradually “picked off” by one of his friends before he can make his choice….or so it seems. This is a really enjoyable book, you wouldn’t know it had been written by three different authors, each author writes about a different couple. The writing is so seamless.

the lady most likely
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!I always find it a little strange when readers critisize the compilations. The short stories are never in depth studies of character or plot, but do exactly what you want from a collection of short tales...give you a pleasant read when you need something quick to pick up and handy for when you are in between long novels.. perfect for mums on the run! I also find they are great if you want to try out a new authour and dont want to plunge into the expense of a large novel. I thought this was great, entertaining and very funny and it introduced me to connie brockway whose novels i have not read before so thanks!

An enjoyable read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am a huge fan of Julia Quinn and thought it was a great intrduction to the writing styles of Eloisa James and Connie Brockway , neither of whom I have read before. The characters were funny and entertaining and overall it was a light, happy book.It certainly does have some laugh out loud moments and all the authors made a good use of irony.I would highly recommend it as an excellent read.

A nice little read, but no more
The idea of this book is very very good, having three (very talented) writers write a part each, but the result is not.I've given it three stars simply because I did finish it, and parts did make me laugh, but if the book had been stolen from me halfway through, I don't think I would have bothered buying a new copy. The problem is, that there are simply too many heroes and heroines, and they all need to have their happy ending. But they each have so few pages, that there isn't time for you to get to know these characters or feel any kind of interest or sympathy towards them. They fall in love at first sight or are already in love when their part of the story begins. There's no drama, no conflict or villains, and it's all just a bit... boring. As written above, I like the idea, but I think it would have been better done over three separate books.

enjoyable read
Lovely premise three writers following the plot I really liked the premise. Yes there are some mistakes that the editor should have picked up on but an excellent read.

An effectively combined writing
I did enjoy this, all the main characters were easy to accept, but I liked Hugh and Georgies story best and the conflicts within her first marriage was very clear.

Julia Quinn never dissappoints
Very entertaining read, though near the end slight confusion on one of the character's name, Carolyn or Caroline? Julia Quinn's part is the most enjoyable.

Great read!
Wonderful! A great read of three love stories occurring at a country party. I cannot stop reading Julia Quinn books (I only have one more) & now I’m introduced to Eloisa James and Connie Brockway for future reads. Great job ladies.

Sommer(nachts)traum
Shakespeare geht einfach immer! 🦁🌜🗡👏

House party with a 'Bachelor' theme
I really enjoyed this book and the way it integrated three stories by different but equally talented authors. Authors Julia Quinn, Eloisa James and Connie Brockway's combine effortlessly into one book.'The Lady Most Likely' begins with Lady Carolyn seeking a bride for her brother Hugh, the horse-mad Earl of Brierley. She invites several eligible young ladies to her house party with the aim of finding a bride for her brother. But some male house guests are also interested in the potential brides.I liked each story equally. All were witty, romantic and very humane. The first story describes Carolyn's horror on discovering her brother Hugh nearly died from concussion. This really resonated with me and I'm sure with all women who have reckless brothers. I also liked that the women at the centre of each story had such different personalities, my favourite being frank Kate of the second story. Hugh's love story is the last in this book. The Earl finds none of the bridal candidates as appealing as sad widow Georgie, his sisters best friend, but Georgie refuses to remarry.Like other reviewers I liked the clever way three authors combined stories into a really satisfying whole and wish more anthologies were this good.

Molto carino
Ironico e romantico.
