HM Beads #1 Amazing Survival Bracelet with Paracord, Whistle, Flint Fire Starter and Scraper (Black)

I bought three as Christmas gifts for family and while it was a wonderful idea none of the flints worked! So disappointing!

The Paracord Survival Bracelet is one of those things that you don't need, until you need it. It's very much like a life insurance, but you don't have to die first to benefit, but far from it since it is meant to keep you alive. I'm sure if one day I were to get stranded in the wild, or heavens forbid a zombie apocalypse befalls on humanity, this bracelet will be more useful than an iPhone 6s, iPad Air2, Xbox One, or all of them combined.You can imagine my excitement when I first received this tiny, unassuming little bracelet. Not only it is light and well-constructed, but it is like having control over your life, should you ever need to use it. Jokes aside, this little bracelet is portable and packed with functions that you cannot do without. I don't know much about starting a fire in the wild, but I did watch some episodes of "SurvivorMan" on Science Channel, and the protagonist, Les Stroud, showed some of his own earlier footage when he was a novice trying to start a fire using nothing but just two wooden sticks. It took him eventually 11 hours to get that fire started! If it takes someone who has his own TV show now that long to start a fire, I believe for someone who is less than a novice would probably end up eating raw meat if I didn't have this bracelet and was left stranded in the wild... Of course, if you like your steaks raw, that's an entire different story (or review :)Now back to the bracelet, it comes with a small, sharp, saw-like edge that can be used alone with the striker to start a fire, but it could also be used to cut things, or grind them down with its saw teeth. The striker is long enough to work well with the blade, and I did strike up few sparks while testing this product, so I can say it works fine. It will take a few strikes to get it going so keep trying until you get sparks.There is also a tiny whistle built-in the locking bracket, and it is loud with very high pitch if you blow hard; so I'm sure if I am lost in the woods, I will be blowing this whistle all day long until I am found :). The only thing that I didn't test is the actual paracord, since it's a one-way process Once you unravel it, it's done for good, you can't put it back to a bracelet form, unless you remember the pattern and have nimble fingers (which sadly, are none of my known virtues :). There should also be tiny dental-floss like strands that you can pull out from the ends of the paracord, and you can use them to do anything from flossing your teeth to fishing, or built rabbit traps!The paracord itself is rated 550lb of strength, which means it is practically unbreakable for someone who is stranded in the wild. I am sure if Tom Hanks had this bracelet in Cast Away, of course he would still be stranded (don't be silly), but at least he would have been eating grill fish from day one!For full disclosure, I received this product at a discount for my honest review, the discount has nothing to do with how I rate this product, and because this product is both essential and portable, plus exceed on all of its promises, I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a Handy Survival Bracelet that I am very happy with! I am not a paranoid person, but my husband has requested that I begin gathering items to fill a "preparedness" backpack in case of an emergency. This survival bracelet fulfills several of my needed items all in one! It has a whistle, flint & striker, and a strong paracord that can be unraveled when the need arises from the bracelet. I can not find anywhere in the description how long the cord is once unraveled though. The bracelet was large on both my husband and I's wrists, which is better than too small. At first I thought it was going to be a big bulky bracelet. It fits pretty well. Doesn't get in the way at all. I haven't used it for camping yet, but I am excited to use the sparking part of the bracelet. I love near a beach, so once summer starts, I will be using this bracelet to start bond fires on the beach. Every time I where this bracelet, I also get people asking me what it is. It's kind of neat to explain that you can use the bracelet for different things just in case something happens. It also makes an awesome present. I have to buy more for my parents and siblings because they think it's an awesome concept.I received this product for a discount in exchange for an honest review.

I love it. Its light weight on top of being pretty cool looking! The whistle is loud and works very well. The flint is very sturdy and actually creates a spark with ease. The actual paracord comes tightly woven so it won't come undone unless you undo it yourself. Overall this is an excellent bracelet for anyone who likes to hike or likes the outdoors. I did receive this at a discounted price for an unbiased review but I think this is a great sturdy product for anyone from an amateur outdoorsman to an avid camper/hiker.
