Finally got it installed, had to press the F12 button on many separate boot ups before the installation process began.
Finally got it to install. I gave up for over a week but then upgraded my 1.25 GB of RAM to 2 GB of RAM then had to try to install Ubuntu several times but finally hit the F12 button at the right time and was able to get the installation process going. If it doesn't install shut it down and try to hit the F12 button again on boot up until you get lucky and the installation process initiates. A 2004 Dell desktop I had is now functional. It was so bogged down and slow with viruses or something from the old Windows XP that it literally took 10+ minutes to boot up. Now with 2 GB of RAM and Ununtu this computer is functional again. I completely erased the dysfunctional Windows XP not wanting to complicate anything but lost pictures and videos in the process. I am wondering now if my 2 GB of RAM Ubuntu computer will work almost as well as the 2 GB RAM Chomebooks sold nowadays, if it does then it was worth it to salvage this 2004 desktop computer. With the RAM upgrade and this DVD it was around $25 to get a 2004 computer functional again. The old ,diseased Windows XP I had was never going to download anything or upload anything from a USB drive so this dvd really helped .

A good way to learn Linux.
Although I have installed it once on a computer I was building, I erased it almost immediately since I was doing this to test the psrogram, rather than a "for keeps" installation. It installed easily and even offered to set up a dual boot so I could use a second operating system. This I very much appreciated, since I am a real beginner with Linux. I hope to dual boot my computer so I can learn Linux and still get the normal stuff done through Windows at the same time. Knowing lwhat I do now, I would definitely buy this disk again to learn how to uxe Linux.

) but I do get a good sense of how it works (I have used Linux ...
Loads as stated in either 32bit or 64bit. However, my wifi does not connect to my home even when entering the password / passcode. However, it does connect when I have my Elipsis hot spot running. I have a question into the Linux community to see why this may be. Currently I'm running it off the DVD, which does not have all the programs installed (games etc..) but I do get a good sense of how it works (I have used Linux before.) I would have given it 5 stars if it had connected to my home wifi.

However if you know little or nothing about Linux and want to try something besides Windows this is a good place to start
First off, if you're already into Linux you're not going to buy this disc, you'll just go to the Ubuntu site and make your own disc for free. However if you know little or nothing about Linux and want to try something besides Windows this is a good place to start. It's already got a lot of the apps you will need, and is easy to install and run. Not sure you want to go all Linux, that's fine it gives you the option to put it on a partition on your hard drive and keep your Windows OS or even run it directly from the disc, however running from the disc is very slow compared to running it from the hard drive, so keep that in mind when you're deciding if you want to keep using it.Bottom line- am I ready to completely dump Windows -No, not yet .

Disaster averted!
I tried to set up a dual boot system on one of my desktops. In the process i managed to ruin the recovery section of my hard drive so it was impossible to restore the system without buying a new Windows OEM disc. Or buy a new computer. So i decided to try a Linux distribution to restore the computer's function. It worked and I'm now using Linux for just about everything including WiFi and burning CDs. The only glitch has been with the printer drivers, i still haven't figured that one out, so when i need to print i copy the document onto a flash drive and print from my laptop, it's a little tedious but it's much better than spending megabucks for a new OS or a new desktop.

and easy to boot
I was having a hard time making a bootable disk or memory stick that was readable by an older Macbook Pro core duo. There are many how-to's out there, but I was unable to get it to work on the older Mac (No problem on a newer Core i& Macbook Air, though). I was finally able to do it (only a 32 bit version, though), but in the meantime, I ordered this disk. I am able to boot both 32 & 64 bit versions. I have not actually installed it yet, I'm waiting for a final OS upgrade to the Macbook Pro, and will back that up before the Ubuntu install. That said, the DVD seems solid, and easy to boot.

Excellent!
I have used Ubuntu - SUSE and Debian. This latest version by far exceeded my expectations. The drivers provided worked right out of the box instead of me spending a couple hours doing command line installs to get everything to work. I quit using Windows about 4 years ago when the bloatware got to a point that you would have to upgrade your computer every couple of years just for it to run at a decent speed. This is running on a 10 year old laptop and smokes brand new out of the box Windows machines. Great Product - and it was worth the few bucks to have it sent vs. downloading and creating a disk.

I went to Ubuntu and I actually have a better system than Win 7
After Microsoft messed up my computer with the free Win 10 upgrade, and no support from them, I went to Ubuntu and I actually have a better system than Win 7. It includes a word, spreadsheet, and presentation software (and much more). And it's compatible to MS for sending documents to MS users. I think you will be happy with it. Not a 5 star because I'm still kicking the tires with all the available downloads.
