The cloth is good. It is smooth, won't curve after use and it dry fast. Those brushes are ok. it is kind of sofe and the point is not sharp

Got this as a special gift. There are quite a few similar items available on Amazon. I chose this one in part because of the ceramic brush holder and the cute ceramic water dish. The brush holder is ceramic, but the water dish is nothing but a cheap, flimsy, rough edged plastic thing.

Great set. I bought it for my husband as a gift, because he is interested in practicing/relearning Japanese calligraphy. I expected writing on it with water to result in a "watercolor" look but the characters appear dark and bold, just like real ink! It's so realistic! The writing fades within minutes, so you won't be waiting forever to use it again. Now my husband can practice his characters without worrying about wasting ink or paper. I really liked that the set was inexpensive but came with several sizes of brushes and a water pot, which is why I chose it over other sets. BTW, all the directions are in Chinese (not Japanese as stated by a previous reviewer), but it's really a self-explanatory tool so it doesn't matter.

For anyone who wants to practice learning Kanji caligraphy, this cloth is amazing. I used to waste alot of ink and paper practicing Kanji. Plus the clean up was very messy. With this cloth, I can practice for some time and it is with water. The brushes that come with the cloth are very good. And the directions are all in Japanese. So I can't understand them. But there are many diagrams in the back that are self-explanatory in a visual way.

I bought this as a Christmas gift and it was well received. Based on the reviews, I made sure to check the water bowl and it had been broken in half. Fortunately the break was clean and a bit of epoxy fixed it right up.

It arrived. Packing looked good , but the tiny water cup is broken in half. Looks a clean break, should be easy to glue together. Everything else looks in good order.

The rewritable mat that I received has some black marks, wrinkles, and some discoloration. The brushes, booklet, and tiny bowl for water are good.
