My mother mentioned them as a gift idea and I want to be sure I get everything she needs.** A: I use them with my fingers, so disposable gloves are good to have. Ampersand is a brand of prepared boards that are ready to accept oil paints. I have some inexpensive canvas paper that I am playing with, but I think I'll spring for some Ampersand or Arches oil paper. Be sure to buy a 'blender' stick also, same manufacturer, but its without pigment, and used for blending, smoothing and building up areas.
