Not Thrilled
I gave this a shot thinking the bad reviews were just people who didn't know how to use a simple electronic transmitter. I do appologise. How can you mess up something so simple? After one week, 2 of 3 receivers died. I replaced all the batteries and still they either stopped working or you have to be within 5 feet of the animal for the thing to begin beeping. We are talking 1980s tech. It's a simple beeper. How can this not work with today's tech? Sorry. I wanted to like this device and I may or may not keep it. I still have one receiver that still works at the moment. I only had the product one week and 2 of the 3 died. Not worth the price tag. Frankly I don't believe it's worth any price tag. Maybe I got a dud. I will see about an exchange. If the replacements work, I will change this rating accordingly. So far I agree with the other reviewers. It's a great idea, just poorly executed. Maybe it's just cheap parts. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was dissapointing and considering the simplicity of the device, I find it unacceptable that they do not work. I think 3 stars is generous considering 2/3 of the product no longer works.

Good idea but not really well made, and not loud enough when cat is truly hiding
This of course is a truly smart idea! Unfortunately I found the beeping sound not loud enough. I understand maybe if it were too loud it would scare the cat. But for this price... still expensive at Amazon's price... they should have made it just a little bit more sophisticated like if you press the button again the beep volume goes a little higher. When you press the button it beeps for about 5 seconds. It's the kind of beep that's easily muffled by blankets. For a cat locator they should have made this a little better. My cat stays indoors and my house is not big so I cannot comment on the distance, but once it did not go off the first time I pressed the correct button. Pressing again worked. The receivers are small and feel cheaply made. The so-called ID tags are so small that you can't even fit your phone number on one line.

Meets my needs
I've bought 2 of these and am about to purchase a 3rd set as a couple of my other ones are getting flaky. If they were better made I'd give it 5 stars. They also eat batteries. However, even with some slight neg. aspects, I use and rely on this item. I have three cats that are indoor only unless I'm out back with them. We have a huge back yard. I can work outside and every once in a while, I beep each color and locate the cat. I often have to walk to one side of the yard or the other as the beeps are not as loud as I'd wish. And if one of the two cats who can and often go over the fence to the front, I can go out there and beep. One of my cats knows I'm coming and will race back to where he belongs!None of the cats minds the tags. I use either a separate collar or a "D" ring to attach. I also use a couple larger jingle bells. In fact when I get the tags out and do my test beeps, all three cats come running. They know they get to go out for a little while. For me, it does what I want, and getting 3 for this price doesn't break the bank. It'd be nice if they make improvements in the future, like louder beeps and not so draining on batteries--maybe an on and off switch?

watch the instruction video!
This is a revision of my earlier review. Initially, I said that the receiver was not attachable unless you're using a collar that's very thin, very flat and without a clasp. In response to this review, the product inventor (Pat) contacted me. (A+++ for customer service!). Pat explained how to attach the tracker to a breakaway collar but -- more importantly -- told me there's an instructional video on the Cat Caller website. I strongly encourage anyone who buys this product to see the short, very explanatory video. I had also said in my review that the battery doesn't work unless it's slightly off center. Pat suggested that the inserted battery can lose power during shipping and suggested that I try one of the new batteries included in the box. This, too, worked and is a handy hint. I've adjusted my review accordingly.

For our two cats:The biggest problem was getting it on our existing collars and harness, because of the breakaway feature on the collar and harness we like the opening in the metal are too small (buckle collars not a problem). We glued one on and tied the other with copper wire, works fine. The battery doesn't last as long as we thought it would but the replacements do work so we are OK with it.Overall we are happier with this product than the EZ find which was our previous product. I would recommend this product.

Cat Caller
I had been looking for something like this as I have 4 cats and a couple like to go exploring outside and I have a difficult time finding them. The product is great other than the remote is very cheaply made. I pulled it apart to get the batteries in it and I can't get it to snap back together completely but it does still work. The beep it emits is faint but you can hear it if you strain. It works best in the dark as the device that clips on the collar flashes. To me it seems rather cheaply made for the price I paid to it does work as advertised.

Can't do without them!
Having three indoor/outdoor cats can be some drama. The cat callers are priceless.I began using the Cat Caller two years ago.The beepers have helped me find Swinkie trapped in the neighbor's garage and William stuck under the house.Even if they are safe under the bed or in the closet, I can quickly locate them.I beep to call them to dinner, too.Seriously, this product is great. I'll always use them.
