Very Impressive at an Affordable Price
Very impressive looking knife at half the cost. The decorative wood box makes it very convenient as a gift. I believe this knife is fabricated in China from Japanese steel. It comes with a very sharp edge. As with all my knives I will hone often to maintain an edge commensurate with the product.

Meh :/
I gave it 3 stars (neutral opinion) because I have high expetations for knifes. I do use this one as my every-day knife and it serves the purpose.

Looks beautiful. Sharp as can be
Looks beautiful. Sharp as can be. Haven't used it since it is a gift, but the weight, balance, shape, size are all very good. Wish I were keeping it!

Don't hesitate
It comes exactly as described, nice box and very sharp. I haven't used it yet, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it'll make quick work of anything that needs to be sliced, chopped, diced, whatever. Shipping was sluggish but when I received the product all concerns were gone.Update: After a few months of use, the blade remains as sharp as the day I received it. I hadn't previously owned a proper chef knife, this has been a total game-changer. I dreaded slicing veggies; now it's quick and easy. Mincing/dicing garlic or herbs is no longer a chore. Outperforms my carving knife for meat. Best knife I've had (limited experience noted, also haven't abused it) and highly recommended.

Slices with ease and feels great in the hand.
UPDATE ** One Month LaterI'm surprised at how quickly the sharpness for this knife has degraded. We cut only on wood cutting boards and it's gotten to the point that I'm not sure this would even cut my hand. blizzare. I may take this in to have it professionally sharpened to see if the edge can be resurrected, but very surprised that this Japanese Steel didn't keep its edge...Curious if others have a similar experience?****I'm not a super duper knife freak, but I love knives and hate cutting with dull knives.Earlier this year I taught myself how to sharpen knives by hand and was astonished with how well my Henckels (Cuisine model) cut after being sharpened...So much so that I was thinking I'd just stick with them. When I came across this Damascus knife, I decided to give it a try. I wanted to see what a thin Japanese-style blade could do by comparison.Out of the box, I was relatively impressed, but surprised at how light it was. My Henckels are pretty heavy...So tonight I started trimming some steak and compared/contrasted. Holy moly. The Toron sliced through the steak with ease. So much so that after trimming just one steak with the Henckel, I stopped using it. 100% sold. Very excited to have this new knife and I hope it holds an edge as much as it's supposed to...Time will tell I suppose.

Nice price cheap box.

Excellent knife for the money.
Excellent damascus stainless steel embedded high carbon edge. High quality. Takes a little bit of sharpening with proper, fine Asian knife sharpener stone and it becomes as razor sharp as the Shun and Miyabi knives out of the box. Good balance and the edge holds up well. Comfortable grip allows fast, good work. The knife comes in a nice box.
