Convenient, but I wish the molds were bigger
I have a LOT of silicone ice cube trays---I guess I'm mildly obsessed with making weirdly shaped ice cubes---so I'm a big fan of silicone in the kitchen. I think silicone is a miracle material, and silicone hamburger molds seemed like a great idea. But now that I've seen these in person, I realize that there are some design flaws that I hadn't considered before; however, they make up for it in terms of convenience.1. These are small diameter burgers--only 3 inches across. That's definitely on the tiny side. 3.5 or 4 inches would have been a lot more realistic. By the time you account for shrinkage on the grill or in the pan, you're looking at 2.5 inch burger.....they're a little too small.2. The trays are very floppy, especially when you cram them full of heavy ground beef. So the trays are difficult to pick up and handle. I suggest transferring them to the freezer on a cookie sheet.3. Also, while I don't mind the two different shapes (hexagon, circle), it does strike me as slightly unnecessary. The different shapes don't allow more burgers to fit into one mold, so I can't see the advantage, unless it's just a matter of style. Those are the tradeoffs that you make for convenience, though. There's certainly something to be said for being able to make and store 8 patties at once, rather than shaping and plastic-wrapping each one individually. So I'm still happy with them. I think if you're a fan of smaller, thicker burgers, instead of broader, flatter burgers, you'll probably like these more than I do, however.---Promotional sample provided for the purpose of candid and objective review.---
