Size:Pack of 2 – 8 Ounce Bags The Hammond family has been making hand-rolled sourdough pretzels in Lancaster, Pennsylvania since 1931. They use the highest quality ingredients, combine them in a family recipe that dates back to the 1800's, and then hand roll these oven baked hard pretzels just for you. Hammond's have been voted the #1 Hard Pretzel by the Lancaster County Magazine for 18 years running!

Very good but....
Let me say that as far as pretzels go, these are top notch. They taste good, etc. What is puzzling to me, and hence the three star review instead of five, is that 90% or more of the pretzels that came were broken. Now, let me state that in eating them I would break a pretzel anyway. And, let me state that being broken pretzels instead of whole pretzels does not have any impact on what they taste like. But, why in the world are 90 % or more of the pretzels broken? Others have written about the same thing. I think that what they do is that they gather up the broken pretzels and pack them up and sell them in this 3 pound box and the whole pretzel get bagged up and sold in smaller quantities. I do not mind this. However, I would appreciate that they would state that these pretzels are pieces instead of whole or that they would find a way to pack them more carefully so that they do not arrive in pieces.

Buyer Beware!
Do NOT order these pretzels. The box of pretzels arrived crumbled. They were packed loosely and they were smashed in tiny pieces. The product is indicated as not eligible for return, another reason to avoid them. We have enjoyed the brand in the past and were willing to purchase even though they seemed overpriced, but this box of pretzels is a joke. You would be embarrassed to sit them out as a snack for guests. And, honestly, the freshness seems a bit off. Very disappointed and aggravated. Buy them at your own risk!

Not My Kind of Pretzel
Since Gettsyburg Pretzels closed I have been looking for a good hard pretzel replacement - so far, Unique Pretzels come the closest to the flavor I'm searching for - a yeasty crunch! These have an almost buttery flavor that I don't like in a pretzel. I think it's that they're not a slow long rise pretzel, even though they're hand rolled. And they have soybean oil as an ingredient - why? Pretzels should be like a great French bread - no oil - just salt, water, flour, and yeast (and dipped in soda or lye) - and risen slowly over several days.

Excellent hard pretzels
I got a 3lb box. These are excellent, I absolutely love them. I would put them on par or better than Wege. Just note that if you get the 3lb box they come in a big plastic bag so you'll need containers if you plan on storing them for a long time. My box actually came with the majority of pretzels still being whole, but honestly I don't care if the pretzels are whole. It should also be noted that these are all handmade so every pretzel will not be consistent in shape and size. My favorite thing is that these are actually a bit smaller than your typical hard pretzels so you can eat a few without feeling too guilty.

Grew up with these pretzels
These pretzels are great. However, I prefer the extra salty ones. If those were available on Amazon, I would purchase here. Instead, I buy from the bakery itself.

The best pretzels you can get on Amazon.
If there was only one downside to this is that I can't stop eating them when they are in a bucket like this. If you order directly from Hammonds the pretzels come individually wrapped, which slows me down from eating pretzels like I'm a human vacuum cleaner.

BEST PRETZELS ANYWHERE!!!
These are absolutely the best hard pretzels anywhere! They are handmade in my home town of Lancaster, PA, and are not readily available in most areas of the country because they can't make enough truly "handmade" pretzels to sell all over the country. Now that I've moved out of state, I order them online through Amazon. Once you've tried a Hammond's pretzel, you won't want any other brand -- there is no comparison!
