Maybe that reflects on the quality of them this year, in years past they were much smoother to sharpen and write with. **Q: Are these pre-sharpened?** A: No they're not but they sharpen easily. **Q: Anyone else having trouble with the lead (graphite) falling out? Each of the 4 I've sharpened so far, the point falls out and I have to sharpen again** A: Yes! I don't know what happened to Ticonderoga pencils. They used to be the best! I am hoping maybe we got an "off" batch. But it's very frustrating. We have about a half-box (12) pencils left to use. So far, every single pencil we've used, the lead falls out like you've described. And we've tried using multiple types of pencil sharpeners to see if one works better than the other. All the same. I'm editing to add that we did not drop our box of pencils. Perhaps they were dropped before or during shipping. I don't know.
