Not bad
When I first tried this trap, the results were mostly disappointing. I put various bait inside of it (fruit, apple cider vinegar, sugar water) & placed it near places where fruit flies were hanging out in my kitchen. Out of about 30 fruit flies, only 3 went inside of it. I actually had better luck when I unscrewed the cap, turned it upside down & then placed fruit inside of it mixed with water. But if you're gonna do that, there's really no point in buying this thing. You'd be just as well off using a generic plastic bowl or cup. I'll update my review if some other bait works better but, for now, this trap is not much more than a cute little ornament hanging out on my kitchen countertop.[Update]: Ok, at the suggestion of a couple ppl (including a spokesperson for the company who makes this trap), I tried some different bait & the trap seems to be working much better now. The bait i'm currently using is strawberry jam mixed with a little water. The only problem is that it took several days for the jelly to decay enuff to really attract the fruit flies. But it does indeed work & so far, it's caught about a dozen of the little suckers. I'm gonna try some of the other suggestions as well to see if I can get quicker results. But I am now a happy camper & have also bumped my rating up a couple stars.

Not worth the money
As other reviews stated, don’t waste your money on this. I left this out on my counter for almost a week and caught no flies. I even tried several fly catching solutions to attract them.I then placed one of my same fly catching solutions of Apple cider via her and dish soap into an open bowl in the same spot and caught 7 in just two days.I noticed that barely any scent gets through the top hole of this product, which is probably why no flies actually found their way in there. Don’t waste your money, just by a cheap plastic bowl and put some apple cider vinager and dish soap in it. It attracts and kills flies much better.

Great company, item, service
Awesome item, the clear yellow top is a lure to begin with if it's under any kind of light!!! ...as it'll reflect/refract that yellow tint and every EVERY fly or bug trap that's trusted and true since the beginning is yellow because insects can only see certain colors. Then put a lure in it like ripe red wine or some beer, red wine vinegar and a drop of soap, or ripe fruit whatever floats your boat and case calls for. I'll be using my replacement in my grow tent with no worries about spilling or leaking since it locks shut and the top recesses in so no spills. Great customer service and communication.

Works so well
The flies were driving me mad. I always have bananas out because I make smooothies every day. There is nothing that I have not done to get rid of the fruit flies. I used apple cider vinegar as a bait. First day nothing second day Holy cow, it caught like 8. I can see 3 other ones trying to figure out how to get in. The picture is after theee days. I have never even seen that many of them in my kitchen. Ever! I don’t know where they were hiding, I seen 4 at most at any given day. This is amazing

The product definitely works.
During the hot summer months flies become a problem around here. One will sneak into the house and multiply in to tens and hundreds it seems like, so I decided to invest in this set of traps. When I first unpackaged the item I wondered how a large fruit fly was going to fit through the small opening, but I waited and soon for my answer.I used some left over meat, some stinky gouda cheese and some grapes as bait. Within an hour there was a fly on the trap that had laid a bunch of eggs (I flipped the lid upside down in the picture to get a good view of them). So gross, so disgusting, but it works well and will keep those nasty little flies at bay.

like strawberries and bananas
So I have had this a month, and have tried fruit, like strawberries and bananas, and also red wine (maybe my fruit flies are wine snobs), and apple cider vinegar. So far, I have never caught anything in this. I leave it on my kitchen counter, under an "under the cabinet" light, which stays on 24/7 because they are supposed to be attracted to light. No fruit flies. But almost every time I "pop the cork" on a really good Cabernet, they come out of the wood work. So don't waste $10, try something else. I would return this, but it is not worth the time or effort. I will keep "reloading" it in an effort to get the poor buggers. I saw something like this in a beer bar, which is why I ordered this, but obviously it is not the same thing. Maybe I need to try beer?

It WORKS!!!
This trap really works! I live in the south, and the breed of fruit fly that we have here is very receptive to this trap. I've been using cider vinegar in this trap to attract them. Unlike my previous homemade versions that stunk up my whole kitchen with that vinegar smell, this trap keeps the smell practically undetectable to humans. And once trapped, the fruit flies can't figure out how to escape. PERFECT! This is the best money I have spent on any product in a long time. I can't recommend this trap highly enough. Get it. It works!!!

Helpful and attractive.
Works pretty well baited with apple slices and sweet onions and is at least not ugly. I have it sitting on the window sill over the sink and it is working pretty well. If you are having problems like I have been after purchasing a bag of infested sweet onions, the best trap of all has been my vacuum cleaner. I go around at dusk and vacuum them off the cabinet doors, walls, etc. and during the day I put a paper plate on the counter and when a bunch land on an apple or onion slice, I sneak up with the vacuum and suck the little buggers up. As long as you don't cast a shadow over them as you are approaching, you can move slowly up behind them and just suck them up. I am even getting pretty good at sucking them up in mid air, but that requires a lot more hand-eye coordination. After several weeks, I think the invasion is just about over.
