Looks like long-term investment
I really like this nozzle. I believe it is quarter ball valve construction, meaning a ninety degree rotation of the thumb control opens it to maximum flow. Less than ninety degrees allows for reduced flow. Quarter ball means no spring inside to rust. It reminds me of a fire hose. It takes a little getting used to, in that, you cannot just let go of the nozzle handle to shut off the water. The cheap nozzles with a spring to position the grip handle to shut off the water flow don't last because the spring rusts and fails. The Glorden nozzle is hefty and appears to be well made. This model has all the normal spray patterns as other nozzles. Each is easy to select. I paid the high price to determine if it is worth buying two more for my other hoses. It is.Update November 2016: After a couple months of use, I would recommend two changes to the construction. (1) the bright metal ring between the handle and the black flow adjuster has developed a couple pin size rust spots. Unless the strength of the metal is required, I would use some kind of unbreakable plastic or other rustproof material. The shiny metal looks nice, but that's not required. (2) The on-off lever is made of a very comfortable rubber material, but it is a little too soft. Functionality could be improved with a harder rubber. Sometimes it feels like you are moving the rubber but not turning the internal valve. However, I have not changed my mind concerning the five stars.

Best hose nozzle ever, for a year
One year later I'm lowering this review from 5 to 2 stars. This seemed like a very sturdy nozzle that would last forever but it broke, would not shut off, after a year. I had really high hopes for this one but it lasted about the same length of time as much cheaper ones so I guess it's better to buy cheap ones if you have to replace them every year no matter what. We only used it occasionally to water flowers and wash a car.Absolutely the best hose nozzle I've ever owned. I've had it for about a month now and I believe I will be using it for years to come. This thing is seriously well built of all metal except for the inlay to make the grips and thumbswitch (which is so much nicer to use than a trigger) more comfortable and the coating on the rotating front. Nice and numerous water patterns are great too. I will be buying another for the front yard so I don't have to move this one back and forth. Before buying this one I bought a cheaper nozzle with a thumb switch that I liked initially, but it was not built as well and the two that I bought started leaking badly after a couple of months. I think this one will be worth the (higher) price. Highly recommended.

The sprayer seems to be of good, heavy-duty quality
The sprayer seems to be of good, heavy-duty quality. There are no leaks and the spray pattern dial has nice transitions. I'm not a fan of the thumb control even though I think it's a great idea. For a female, my hands are large, (I usually wear men's work and garden gloves), but I have a hard time getting my thumb up over the top of the toggle to get it started. I have to use both hands. Once the water flow is started, I like the thumb control. I'll continue to use this sprayer for the rest of the summer but next spring the grip sprayer is going back on the hose.

Great options, after several uses I can control the flow with my thumb
There are so many options that I haven't been able to try them all yet. I have used the mist and shower to water tomato plants. I have used the jet to clean bird baths and clean the siding on the house. I use different to fill the bird baths depending on which one I am filling. All of them work well and suit the job I want them to do. The thumb control to adjust the intensity of the spray allows me to slow the water down when I fill the bird baths and speed it up when I clean them. It is difficult to adjust it with just my thumb, though. When I use two hands, it is very easy to control the flow. If the nozzle weren't called "Thumb Control," I would give it five stars.UPDATE: After several uses the thumb control has become easier to operate, so I have upgraded my rating to five stars.

Excellent so far - extra powerful
Really impressed so far with this! Seems worth much more than what it costs. Powerful!! Lots of options for jet, angle, full, etc. and I like the ability to easily adjust (with thumb) the strength of the stream as well. So far, so good. I wish it came with some directions/instructions and warnings that the jet stream and even other ones on full force can peel the paint off the patio, etc. In all fairness though, the patio paint was already in bad shape and chipping, etc. but a lot of it came off when using this full force. However, other than that, I am very happy with it! Who wants a product that is weak? No one! This was exactly what I was looking for and seems very sturdy/heavy-duty, although some pieces are plastic.

FINALLY β I found one I love! Very well made
At the time of this writing I have owned my home 10 years and I can tell you I go through at least 2 hose sprayers per season! And I do not use my hose often! So I waited several months before leaving a review. Most sprayers β no matter how much I have paid for them are cheaply made and break or leak in one way or another. FINALLY β I found one I love! Very well made, attractive, multiple settings and I love the on/off thumb mechanism β I do not have to hold a trigger when I am needing the water to keep flowing. Absolutely perfect! Highly recommend!

Good for the first week
This seemed good out of the box. It sat on my shelf for a few weeks, and has been on my garden hose for about a month. The first week was good. After that the "on/off" switch, which you move with your thumb, got really stiff. For the past couple weeks I had to hold the sprayer with one hand and rotate the switch with the palm of my other hand. You shouldn't need two hands to operate a garden hose sprayer.Last night it started leaking. I tried adjusting the dial and the leak became a flood. The black dial where the water comes out had separated from the chrome piece. It is now in the trash and I plan on replacing it with a simpler design.
