Helpful
I bought this for my wife, and she looked through it and said it will really help her. Seems to be newer information which is always a good thing. And I just hope it helps where it needs to

Highly recommend.
This is a serious and in depth workbook and guide. The research done for this book is extensive. Within the first chapter you will learn and understand more than you might in probably 10 therapy sessions. I recommend this as a supplement to therapy. Even if you don't have ptsd there is so much information about the building blocks of improving emotional and cognitive development, as well as why we end up with ptsd. Chock full of Diagrams and journal prompts and exercises throughout that will help improve emotional intelligence for anyone willing to improve their mental growth.

A very helpful workbook, but very intense!
I purchased this book as I just began a treatment program for C-PTSD (Complex PTSD) and it was recommended by the therapist. If you have never heard of C-PTSD, it is a type of PTSD resultant from repeated trauma over an extended period of time (e.g. child abuse, trafficking, torture, etc.). This book is excellent. It explains the symptoms of PTSD, helps you understand why they occur, and provides plenty of exercises to help reduce symptoms. The exercises can be quite exhausting, as they are (in my opinion) the most emotionally challenging but healing component of the book. In all, I HIGHLY recommend this book. If you are even slightly hesitant, please purchase it!! However, I do want to note that this isn't the type of book where you can do it all over a few days. It's very intense, and triggering, and you may only be able to do a couple of pages at a time. Best wishes in your healing process!

Grateful I bought this 3 years ago, it really works
Read this book and filled out questions a few years ago. Have recommended it to several friends. I know this isnโt ment to be a replacement for therapy but for me it was more comfortable to get this all out this way than in traditional therapy. I am glad I bought this book 3 years ago, I can tell it really helped

Probably good for ptsd, less recommended for cptsd patients
It's quite obvious that this book was written with a strong focus on certain kinds of trauma (accidents, natural disasters, soldiers with combat experience - there's a whole chapter dedicated to veterans). For patients with cptsd, particularly those who experienced trauma as minors, many of the prompts may be alienating because they don't quite reflect their experience. It's also very obviously an American book, as evidenced by the many times the authors bring up faith.

You have to be totally honest..
Due to my service I have PTSD and I wish this book had been around when it first hit me... I bought this for a friend who suddenly was hit with PTSD.. As a work book it is very good , but only if you answer the questions totally honestly.. and its best to keep it from non understanding eyes. Write them in your book , but Only share your darkest feelings with your psychiatrist .. The beauty of the book is that as you go through the trauma, at any hour of the night or day you can keep referring back to the relevant section for support.. I recommend this book and I wish you well in your journey back to health ..
