With respect to International Chess, this is the "Sine Qua Non" (None Better) of computer chess programs.
This is it folks. The ultimate computer chess program in the PC board game market. Deep Fritz 14: 64bit Multiprocessor version refers to the IBM's "Think Blue" and "Deep Blue" supercomputers that play against the best human players and won. A foreshadowing no less. The Fritz Deep 14: 64bit Multiprocessor version will work with computers that has at least a Dual (2 x 32bit) core processor. Matter of fact, Quad (4 x 32bit) core processor will take advantage of greater speed. This is one big chess program requiring true processing muscle. Will work on AMD FX Series and A Series processors also, remember at least two core (that is 2 x 32bit) processors.Have tested this on a computer system with an Intel Core i3 4360 (2 x 32bit) core processor, runs with Windows 8.1 okay, no hiccups.Tested further on a computer system with an Intel Core i7 4790K (4 x 32bit) core processor, runs with Windows 8.1 much better and faster.Recommend that a User computer system has at least 8 GigaByte of DDR3 SDRAM memory to avoid delays when the chess engine is set to the highest difficulty level (meaning program takes its time thinking on your time) resulting in slower game played. When User can not win in Fritz Chess: Grandmaster-III version, then absolutely will not win Deep Fritz 14: 64bit Multiprocessor version. It is that strong a playing engine. There are also much more Championship Games in the larger Games database. Purchased this chess program to test whether a strong chess program over time can actually improve a Chess Player's tactics and not just speed performance. Thus far there are no computer chess programs that can understand and play human players that can perform International Chess, Elephant Chess, Shogi, Korean Chess, and Chitiranga Chess simultaneously (that is twelve chess boards played at the same time). Players are unranked as usual. How can one compare the many differences among players of different disciplines. In time when IBM finally sells their Quantum Processor computers to the mainstream public, then there will be near sentient cybernetic players opposite human players. For the present Deep Fritz 14: 64bit Multiprocessor chess program is the best chess program available. About US$69 retail cost.

Buyer beware
This is an extraordinarily user unfriendly package. Once installed on one machine, you have no clue as to how to install on another. There is no documentation as to how to use the program in tutorial mode. This is quite simply the worst software purchase I have ever made.

It may be great software but the user interface and instruction (lack of) are serious problems.
Deep Fritz is reported to be the best of the chess software unfortunately I can not confirm this claim. This software came with no manual or instructions, and the result... very difficult to use. The user interface is one of the poorest I have seen. Currently trying to track down a good training guide. I found a couple of videos on youtube but they were poor instruction and difficult to see do to the small size of the Deep Fritz font and low quality camera used. Please note, I have written and produced several training products for the U.S. Government and Deep Fritz does not reach any acceptable standard.

3-D failure rest is ok.
I'm not a chess nerd but I bought it to improve my game. Main problem found was that using the 3-d boards crashes the program. I have 2 gigs of GPU, 8 gigs of ram, I-7 and win 7. I really wanted the 3-d board for realistic play.

Real very good. I gave it 4 stars only because Fritz 15 is out there. However both Fritz 14 and 15 are among the best. Also, either one is difficult to learn initially, but finally it will come to you and the more you use it, the more powerful it becomes for your training needs. Finally, it got 6 month of web subscription to great chess games, interviews, videos, classes, you can play with other subscribed players. I think it is a great deal for your money with either one the Fritz 14 or the Fritz 15. Both softwares definitely will increase your chess ELO ranking. Make sure you have an strong fast PC or it will be slower but, not that bad either. Otherwise, if you don't have a very good PC go for older version in 32 bit format, some are even free like Fritz 12. and some others...... Hope this will help some ...... Excellent GUI, very strong chess engine.
A very sophisticated program. I mainly bought this for the GUI so I could run other chess engines (like Rybka, Hiarcs, and Stockfish) in it. That functionality works very well. You can run more than one engine at a time, one as a main engine, and others as 'kibitzers'. You can also adjust the number of processor cores each engine can use. There's a function called 'let's check' which gives you access to the analysis done by other people on millions of different positions.I tried using the Fritz 14 engine just to see if it's any good, and it is! It's very fast and fairly sensible in terms of position evaluations. I heard a rumour it's actually a relabelled version of Pandix, and it might be. The only other version of Fritz I've got to compare it with is Fritz 7, and it's certainly totally different from that: much more accurate. The chessbase GUI is very good (only hanging and freezing occasionally) and the Fritz 14 engine is very good, not quite as helpful analytically as Rybka (in my humble opinion), but still, very fast, very accurate, and fairly insightful.

Total Waste of Money & Time
This is a total waste of time and money. By far the worst program I have ever encountered. The manual is incomprehensible and incomplete with lots of mumbo-jumbo and no explanations. SCID, a totally free program is much better but without the graphics to make it more user-friendly. I'm still trying to work out how to import and create new databases in Fritz (should be Frights!) 14!!
