Digestible Indian Philosophy
This is the work that Zimmer was in the midst of putting together at his death. The editor did a lovely job sifting and organizing. A great overview of the philosophies of India. There is something musical about Zimmers writing. It is very evocative, turning a subject that can be hard to grasp into a pleasure to read.

Excellent
Excellent both as an in-depth resource book and as an overview to understanding Eastern spirituality. The story of how the book came to be, and how it was published, is also fascinating.

Great book!
I really an getting into this book, Hinduism is a mystery to me and this book is helping me understand the philosophical background for this very enigmatic religion . India and Hinduism intrigue me but delving into the religion and into this culture is daunting, to say the least. This book leads the reader into understanding and that is no easy feat . I recommend it highly.

Philosphies of India
This should be mandatory reading in all U.S. high schools. Ignorance is not bliss (or ananda;), it is just ignorance.

A western interpretation of Indian Philosophies?
Though I'm not an authority on Indian or western philosophy. It seems to me a western approach to eastern philosophy. Very worth reading if you are interested in both. It's a fascinating book on a vast and complex subject. Made even more convoluted by Zimmer's embellishments, I'm still wondering why/how Hegel was "prematurely" stricken by cholera.....page 22, "lying on his deathbed in 1831, prematurely stricken by cholera."

Probably a great read for someone with a background in Hinduism
Very hard to follow. Author jumps around concepts. Probably a great read for someone with a background in Hinduism.
