Michigan Pool Owner - best device I have ever bought for our pool
This device is a must have in my opinion. We have an in-ground pool (for 15 years) and the skimmer never has worked well. I ordered this device thinking it would help clean the surface and maybe reduce the use of the filter. I took delivery on May 31st of this year and ironically one day later, our filter pump broke down and it was going to be a week before we could get it repaired. This device (Solar Breeze) kept the pool water very clean!! My family and I were both stunned at how well it worked and we let it run non-stop. We only took it out of the water to clean the tray and refill the chlorine. I realize this device is expensive and time will tell whether it holds up for a few years, or just a season. I too read the concerns about the tray "dropping" or the thing getting stuck. My experience is that the tray has to be put in a very exact fashion, otherwise it will slip off the track. But if you do it correctly, it stays in place. As far as getting stuck that has not happened. Yes, it can jamb in a corner for a few minutes, but eventually it turns on the reverse mode, backs up and keeps going. The solar panels seem to do a great job of keeping the device powered. I leave it in the pool all night and the thing will paddle around half the night and come morning, the sunrise re-energizes the device and it is off and running. As a result we run our filter a lot less, probably less than 3 hours a day. And I just had my water tested, and my water is perfect, so I don't need to run the filter more frequently. This device also helps keep the bottom clean because it scoops things off the surface so they do not sink to the bottom. If you periodically empty the catch tray, clean off the paddles and spray off the device, the thing works great. It is light weight so just about anyone can grab it. I sure hope this thing lasts because it is the best device I have ever purchased for a pool.

I wouldn' Have Beleived the Diffrence Without Seeing it for Myself !
I wouldn't have believed the difference it has made without trying it. Dose it's job flawlessly. 2 months of continuous action without a hitch. MUCH less debris going to the bottom of the pool allowing me to save the bottom vacuum operation for the weekends when electricity costs less here in AZ. The strain on the filter system is far less allowing me to keep the variable speed pump on low throughout the week (just enough to turn the water over 1 1/2 times) increasing the filtering properties of the pump system by reducing the pressure on the filters themselves. This coupled with a solar powered Ionizer has left our pool water Sparkling clean for the fist time in three years without the use of liquid Chlorine and other harsh chemicals. Care needs to be taken when cleaning the catch basket on the bottom of the unit. It slides into plastic rails that hold it in place. Do not damage the rails by forcing the basket back in place and be sure it is in the rails or it will wind up at the bottom of the pool and the skimmer will be reduced to a cool floating light show at night. The robot holds 2 3' chlorine tabs in a compartment under it as well. Same cautions apply. I replace them every 2 weeks as precautionary measure per the instructions that came with the ionizer and that is all the chemicals I have had to use for 2 months now. Please see the attached pic.

Genius idea! Great invention and investment
Update: it works as advertised still and have no issues. I ordered marine wax to wax the plastic parts and protect it from sun. Update: it is still running strong. We had wi dy days and it saved our time a lot and also birds hate it and stopped pooping around our pool so here is another benefit of it. While taking it out of the pool, first turn it off than hold it from each sides ao it wont drop the stuff back to the pool. To whom who invented this, Thank you so much for being so creative! I got mine today and after charging it for an hour and registering it put it in my pool and it started working as it should be. No more skimming and picking leaves from the pool! Amd it is solar powered! Hope it lasts and the product lasts! It is expensive but cut your pool maintenance time drastically! I will keep you uodated if it fails or need warranty work but so far running like a chanp! And big thanks to the inventor of the product! Thank you.

Not durable enough.
Great idea, very effective at first, but not very durable. In fact, I absolutely love the job it does when it's fairly new. Bought mine in December, 2016, worn out by August 2017. That means it cost me as much as my pool service over that time. Guess it's back to the net until something better comes along. This was the 3rd unit I purchased, so I'm done. The first was in 2013 and it lasted one season. I bought another in 2014 and it lasted a season. This one didn't even make it through the season. I don't know whether it's just poor quality or maybe it's just not designed for the Arizona heat, but, IMO, three strikes and you're out. I gave it 2 stars instead of one because it works great and performs as advertised, it just wears out way too quickly for the price you pay.

ALMOST perfect...
I love this product! It's the roomba of pool surfaces! Although it hasn't sequestered the need to skim entirely, it has dramatically cut down on my skimming duties. It takes no more than 4-5 minutes to clean out the tray and the machine itself with a garden hose on a "soaker" or soft setting to not damage the seemingly delicate tray. My yard is surrounded by multiple trees and 2 giant pine trees (needles and baby pine cones). You can see from my picture how much it collected in about 2.5 to 3 hours. If you have a pool party in 30 minutes, don't expect it to work miracles. But I feel like this is a product where you turn it on before work and come home to a crystal-clear, debris-free pool. A full charge will last about 14ish hours. But as long as the sun is rising, it'll stay charged pretty much all the time. THE NOT SO GOOD Like everyone else, my biggest complain is the tray. It would have likely had 5 stars otherwise. It is impeccably annoying to align the super tiny slots with the tray. Also, the tray is somewhat malleable so I feel like the tray is going to break one day soon (I've been using it for about 3 weeks straight so far). I've had 1/10 times where I didn't realize the tray wasn't perfectly in and when I went to pull it out of the pool, the tray plopped out from the Solar Breeze and it released all the debris it collected. Thankfully a quick skim captured it all but I would be lying if I said I didn't curse a storm every time it happened. My other complaint is that when you go to lift the Solar Breeze out of the water to clean it, a small chunk of the debris will inevitably slip out. So you should always have a skimmer near by to scoop up the escapees. The only other piece to be mindful of is that the Solar Breeze tends to get caught on other objects in the pool – like a floating chlorine dispenser. I know that the Solar Breeze has slots for chlorine dispensing BUT I have a huge pool and the 2 tablets that it can hold isn't enough to dispense the proper amount of chlorine. I also have a dolphin cleaner that cleans the bottom of the pool and both on at the same time tends to get a little wonky for the Solar Breeze. It more often than not gets stuck on the wiring of my bottom pool cleaner so I usually have to have them run independently of one another. It's possible that it still works fine but it takes a very long time for it to work itself out of other foreign objects that don't correlate to the side of the pool.

Lasts 7 months before motor dies
Frustrating customer service after owning for 1 year. The only place that can repair is Solar Breeze so you have to ship in the original packing or buy a box and ship ($50). Then they take over 2 weeks to repair during peak pool season. My solar breeze was off and put in garage during off season (Nov-March) so it was in pool at most for 7months after purchase. Motor quit and it was out of warranty (just had over a year). I purchased square trade (luckily) and they reimbursed for shipping and repair ($200). This is an expensive product that dies in a year. I will use until my square trade warranty runs out then will get a different solar cleaner. NX is too expensive and fragile, I also have tray problems: difficult to reinsert, gets off track, tray tracks are wearing out. They did not fix any tray issues after I received back from repair. (I was told there was extensive testing for days! Well you missed the tray problem.) For only a year of service, the NX should cost less. There should be more of a network with local pool stores that could fix these. Solar breeze works great when it works but after a year most likely it will die. Customer service was very grumpy with me when I wanted a status after 2 weeks because they were too busy/overwhelmed. This is another reason to avoid because all the motors are failing with only 1 repair facility. As a company, they need to reach out to local pool shops and get them to repair these. This is big and cumbersome to ship. My summary: not ready for prime time, hopefully the newer ones will improve.

Shockingly wonderful
I bought this a month ago, almost to the day. It was a nervous purchase, I certainly had my doubts, as you can read some poor reviews and my pool company advised me he’s heard they (not this brand specific) break easily. Best. Investment. Ever. Absolutely worth dropping the money on this product. While it is bigger than I had thought (because I didn’t look at the dimensions) it is amazing. I have a long haired dog that lovvvvves going in the pool. Not a hair on the surface. For about 2 years I dealt with bugs and the surface “stuff” that the skimmer doesn’t get. Now? Crystal clear. I let it run all the time. It does it’s thing. Clean out the tray (that has yet to randomly drop out) when I see it is getting full as it does impact the speed. It does get caught sometimes on the skimmer tube at times and can become caught in a tube circle, bit easy enough to nudge it out. I have the pump running 4ish hours a night in comparison to the 8 before. As expected this purchase will be a money saver on running the pool pump and the pool has never been cleaner. It also creates a waterfall-esque sound from the rudder that I find quite calming. To note, I also love the spots for chloeine tabs. I highly recommend, and I did get the warranty. Pool looks crystal clear and fantastic. Great product!!

Does not work very good, the tray falls out of the bottom of the unit when you pick it up to empty it. It is really hard to get the tray back in the unit after you take it out to empty, have to empty it often as it does not hold very much in the tray. When you pick up the solar breeze and pull the tray out to empty, the tray usually falls out of the unit and you do not get a chance to pull it out of the track that is supposed to hold it in the unit. I think something is wrong with my solar Breeze as that should not happen. But the Fed Ex driver who delivered mind did not bring it to my front door, he stopped on a side street and threw it over a back block wall behind some Palm trees, and I could not see or find it for a week, and kept fighting with Fed Ex to send the driver and show me where he threw it. As he put in his log that he delivered it to my front door at 3:pm and I kept saying he stole it, as it was never delivered as I was a shut in and at home because of surgery, and he never came to my front door. It is way over priced and you still have to have someone to clean your pool, and empty it several times a day. it does not hold much leaves or debris in the tray.
