Though born in Spain, XAVIER CUGAT grew up in Cuba where his family emigrated to when he was five. Later, they settled down in the USA where he reached stardom as the leader of the resident band at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel.

Disappointed with purchase
Bought this new but it skips. Too $$$ to return such a little item, guess I'm stuck with it. Some songs stop and restart at will. I am using a Bose that I clean daily for play it most of the day. Said to clean every 10 hours. It is not my player, it is the CD, Disappointed with purchase.

Exciting! Makes you want to dance!
The CD came on time and in execellent condition. The music is great! I've only heard Xavier Cugat's orchestra in old musical movies. It is great listening to his own recordings.

Very nice collection of Vintage Cugat! Classic tracks, Island of Capri, Bim Bam Bum, The Lady in Red, Besame Mucho, Babalu. The packaging is nice but definitely a budget pack. The music is good but I really would have loved to have some idea when these were recorded and where the tracks are from! It seems all of the Cugat Collections I have picked up are very sparse on details. But it is Cugat and I would assume these recordings were done sometime in the 40's but that is only a guess! If you want to add some classic Cugat to your collection this is a nice set to have!
