I got this kit for my wife who has celiac disease and is allergic to any contamination of gluten over 10ppm. Since the FDA said it was okay for manufacturers to have up to 20ppm gluten and still be able to use the G-F label, my wife has had nothing but problems with food she's been able to eat for years but not anymore. As indicated in the other review, this test is simple and can check down to 5ppm, exactly what was needed. You can't trust the labeling and companies tell us they are gluten-free because they are within the government standards. Today my wife just found she can eat the sweet potato starch she ordered so can start baking again. We are happy campers and I heartily recommend this kit to anyone who can't handle the government's idea of what it is to be G-F.

Easy gluten test with clear results
I got this to check a spice blend that I picked up on vacation and that "seemed" gluten-free. Surprise -- it wasn't!The instructions are pretty simple, even for a non-science person. There were a few steps to the test, but nothing difficult. I tested the spices to 5ppm and there was a clear red line to indicate that they were contaminated with gluten. Since then I've used it for some cookies a friend made (safe!), and have a few tests left for other things. Although you can test to 20ppm also, I've only used the kit at the more sensitive 5ppm level.Overall a great way to verify whether or not something is safe to eat, especially in those situations when you can't get a clear answer from the manufacturer or the kitchen.
